Men’s Health is a magazine about fitness, health, sex, style, travel, and grooming. Their newly appointed deputy digital editor is accepting pitches at rachel.epstein@hearst.com. She hasn’t mentioned the rates in her tweet, but according to a now-deleted tweet by their health editor, they pay $100 to $160 for SEO/news-driven stories. They pay $125 for Generation AP pieces, $150 for Q&As, $250 to $350 for profiles, and $250 to $450 for reported features. Authors Publish publishes articles about various aspects of writing and publishing. They’re currently seeking articles that cover one specific aspect of promoting your writing. They pay between $35 and $50 per article. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.

PCGamesN is a website that covers all things PC gaming. Their guides editor has tweeted, “Any freelancers playing WoW Dragonflight and have the capacity to take on a few guides this week for PCGamesN?” According to their former guides editor, rates start at £110 for 800 words. The writers should have health and wellness experience. Rates were not mentioned in the tweet, but according to a tweet by their senior editorial director, their rates start at $250/piece. Slate is an online general-interest magazine that offers analysis and commentary on news, politics, business, culture, and technology. Their senior editor of life and culture is looking for human interest and culture pitches. They are seeking “writers in Birmingham and Leicester for an online feature following the census.” According to payment reports, they pay £150 to £500 for features. They are accepting pitches for their unthemed May/June issue: “Ask a burning political question, share an experience with grassroots activism, or dig into an urgent investigation.” They pay $150 for profiles, short essays, reviews, and parting shots (usually 1,500 words or less); $250 for feature stories (usually 1,500 to 2,000 words) and photo essays; and $350 for research-based articles and investigative reporting (usually 2,000 to 2,500 words). Comstock’s is a monthly business magazine in California’s Capital Region. They cover business, trends, and quality of life in Sacramento and the 9 surrounding counties. Business includes arts, culture, music, food, agriculture, environment, etc. Their senior editor is looking for web pitches. Web stories are 600 to 1,500 words and pay $200 to $300. Operation Sports is a website dedicated to sports gaming. They are accepting pitches (on a rolling basis) for essays (800 to 1,800 words), reported features (1,200 to 2,500 words), interviews (1,200 to 2,000 words), book reviews, shorter articles, fiction, and poems for Ideas, their living archive of long-term thinking.
