Kill Your Darlings, a quarterly journal out of Australia, is now accepting submissions of essays, articles, blog posts, and fiction.
They like ‘feisty’ writing that generates discussion, pushes boundaries, and knows how to have fun. They don’t shy away from any topic, whether it is considered “high culture” or “low brow.”
According to their website:
“Print rates are negotiated with the editors on commission, however our minimum payment for a lead feature commentary is $550, commentary is $200, fiction is $250, and reviews $200 (for all of which we subtract $50 for a discounted yearly subscription, or renewal of an existing subscription).
Killings columnists are paid $90 per post, for a year-long contract. All other Killings posts are paid a $50 flat rate.”
They publish writers from various stages of their careers. This means if you’re new to freelance writing, or an established writer, they will consider your work.
