How Bloggers Really Make Money

It is estimated that the average blogger makes about $500 per month, but there is significant variation in this from blogger to blogger. Some bloggers make one new post every few weeks, and it may be a lower quality or less interesting post. Others may spend hours of their time each day writing engaging posts that others will want to share with their friends and family. Typically, the amount of money a blogger makes is correlated to the amount of time and effort devoted to the blog. Blogging is not a quick route to easy money. In fact, you may spend months blogging without ever seeing a dime.

Top Sources of Blogging Income

So just how can you turn a couple of posts per week into a paycheck? The answer is advertising. There are different advertisers who want to make use of your presence on the internet to reach out to their potential customers. Some may ask you to directly promote a product, such as by writing a post about it and including a link to their website. Others may want you to place a link or banner ad for their site on your own website. These are just a few of the most common sources of income available. You can also consider using your website to generate Google ad revenue or something similar.

The Key to Making Money as a Blogger

Most bloggers really will spend months working on their blog without seeing a dime in revenue. So why is this? The fact is that you have to increase your blog’s viewership in order for advertisers to be interested in paying you money for advertising their site. A website that only gets 500 hits per month isn’t worth most advertisers’ time A website that gets 10,000 views per day, however, is well worth their time. The key to making money as a blogger is building viewership. To do this, you typically have to write engaging, interesting content, and then you have to advertise or market your content. Ideally, you will write blog posts that others do share by sending your blog’s link around or by posting the link on social media sites. There are different ways to engage an audience. You could constantly offer helpful advice, write insanely hilarious pieces or even write pieces that are shocking or alarming in some way.

Turn a Hobby Into a Part-Time Job

Most people who are successful and profitable bloggers today started blogging as a hobby. Over months of blogging, they learned the ropes, built their viewership up and learned how to reach out to advertisers. Keep in mind, however, that the average income from a single blog may not be enough to support your full income needs. At best, for most people, blogging is a part-time job. However, by maintaining several different blogs, and if each is highly successful, you can turn a part-time job into a full-time job.

Bloggers can make decent money, or even can earn a significant income over time. However, it does take time and effort before you can start generating a higher income level, and you do need to continuously work at the job in order to keep enjoying profits from it.
