Adirondack Life is a regional magazine covering the Adirondacks. If you’re a magazine writer, regional magazines are a great way to build your base of clients. This magazine pays up to $540 for articles from new writers, and up to $1,050 for feature articles.
As with any magazine you submit to, be sure to get a good sense of what they publish, before sending them your work. In the case of Adirondack magazine, writers should send a query before sending a full submission. They’re very strict about not covering topics they’ve already covered.
According to their website:
“Writers should become familiar with the magazine before querying the editor. In its 40-plus years of publishing, Adirondack Life has covered thousands of stories and it’s rare that we revisit a profile, place or issue unless there is significant news to share. For new contributors, the best way to break into the magazine is through departments, which run from 1,000 to 1,800 words. Features run from approximately 1,500 to 3,500 words. We are not interested in poetry, fiction or editorial cartoons.”
