A Fast Way to Earn Your First Freelance Writing Paycheck

One of the biggest concerns about freelance writing that prevents people from pursuing this as a full-time career is how they will earn money. From the outside looking in, it may seem that someone paying you to write at home all day while you sit in your slippers is too good to be true. The fact is, though, that there are thousands of freelance writers who enjoy this experience every day, and they make a fabulous income from it. The only thing holding you back from enjoying this life yourself is figuring out how to earn your first paycheck.

Look For Gigs

There are literally thousands of freelance writing projects posted on various freelance websites across the Internet each day, and you only need to find at least one of these websites and put it to use. The truth is that some websites will charge you a membership fee to use them, and you may be wary about paying a fee to use them. However, when you think about this fee in terms of paying an employment agency for connecting you with employers, you may find the fee worthwhile. In fact, you may easily recoup that fee after just an hour or two of work. There are free websites that you can use, but these are generally littered with scam artists, and they are not monitored as the fee websites are.

Choose a Small Project

As a new freelance writer, it is best to look for small projects. These may be assignments to write a 300 or 500-word article or a dozen product descriptions. Keep in mind that most new freelance writers will start off very slowly, and you may wonder how you can ever earn a full-time living at your current pace. Eventually, however, you will fall into a rhythm with your writing, and you will start to earn more money each day.

Keep It Up

With your first assignment completed, you can more clearly see how the freelance writing process works and how you will get paid for your projects. The next step involves finding larger assignments and a greater number of assignments. Because of how many assignments there are available to choose from, you will soon find yourself working full-time hours and earning a great income. In fact, with how easy it really is to get started working as a freelance writer, you will wonder what took you so long to pursue your dream.

It is understandable that you may be intimidated about giving up a salaried or hourly job and pursuing freelance writing for money. However, you can actually ease into freelance writing by picking up a few assignments to complete during your time away from your “real job.” You will soon find confidence in your ability to earn money through your writing skills, and you will feel comfortable turning in your two weeks’ notice to your current employer. The process of becoming a freelance writer seems scary right now, but it actually is far easy than you think. You simply have to take the first step!
