Oregon Humanities is a triannual publication of “ideas and perspectives,” with each issue focused on a specific theme.
They publish all forms of nonfiction writing, including personal essays and journalism.
They are currently seeking submissions on the theme of “harm.”
According to their call for submissions:
“For the fall/winter 2017 issue of Oregon Humanities, we want to hear your stories, ideas, thoughts, and arguments on the word “harm.” Explore lesser-known contemporary and historical stories about how communities have been damaged or have caused harm. Tell us about things going wrong despite best intentions. Share a story about mayhem or injury that you’ve inflicted, experienced, or witnessed.”
The deadline for this topic is July 10th.
They pay $300 to $800 for essays.
