MYSTERION is a Christian magazine of speculative fiction, published online. They seek to publish quality short stories filled with “Christian characters, themes, or cosmology.”
They don’t require authors to be Christian; and the stories do not even need to be “pro-Christian.”
They are a Patreon supported publication, which means they have a group of supporters funding them every month.
That means they can pay their writers “pro rates” for the writing they publish.
Payment is 6 cents per word, up to 9,000 words. That works out to a maximum of $540 per story.
According to their website:
“The story must engage with Christianity. We want stories with Christian characters whose faith affects their actions, with Christian themes such as grace and redemption, or with a Christian view of the supernatural. Note that we’re not saying that you must be a Christian. We are not in a position to judge your faith and won’t try, and we welcome submissions from authors of all backgrounds and perspectives. Nor does your story need to be unambiguously pro-Christian. If you can tell a good story that meaningfully engages with Christianity, we want to read it.”
The current submission deadline is July 31st, 2018.
