Bitch Magazine, the magazine that seeks to provide a thoughtful feminist response to pop culture, is currently calling for submissions of essays on the topic of “devotion.”

They pay up to $500 per essay.

The deadline for submissions is August 18th.

According to their submission guidelines:

“When you ask about devotion, you overturn surprise. What lies underneath fandom, cultural iconic power, cults, religion, advocacy, or activism can be explored by asking what drives devotion. We could investigate realities about what drives some LGBTQ folks to stay in religions that have harmful ideologies, or make connections between creative processes and obsession. “

They are also currently accepting applications for their writing fellowship.
