As the internet has evolved recently, we have seen the rise of more websites that pay increasingly well for the writing they publish. It used to be difficult to find websites that pay $200 for articles. It is now increasingly common. The following is a list of five websites that pay that rate…
1. The Learned Fangirl publishes “critical and accessible essays about popular culture, fan studies, technology, and online culture.” Keep in mind that they do’t want personal essays, listicles, or recaps. They pay $200 per essay. Don’t send completed essays; pitches are preferred. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.
2. ThemeIsle pays $100 to $200 for articles about working with WordPress.  They accept list articles, tutorials, how-tos, etc. They want 1,000+ word articles with lots of images and examples. To learn more, read their submisson guidelines.
3. The Revive.Social Blog aims to provide high quality advice about social media marketing. They want high quality information, backed up by research. They pay $100 to $200 per article. 1,500+ words. To learn more, read their submission guidelines. 
4. SitePoint creates “hubs” on specific web technology topics, such as node.js, Angular, user experience design. They have a very large audience, and pay above average rates for the writing they publish. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.
5, Broadly, a website run by Vice, is  “devoted to representing the multiplicity of women’s experiences.”  Payment reports indicate average pay of around 30 cents per word. Their editors can be contacted here.
