Ready to get published? Here’s our latest list of calls for writers, directly from editors. We’ve done the legwork of finding contact information and payment rates — so you can quickly connect with the right editors for your work. Before approaching these publications, please be sure to carefully study them, and prepare a pitch that fits their needs.

SheKnows empowers women through discussions and articles related to women’s issues including health, relationships, sex, parenting, and beauty. Insider’s editor of lifestyle/entertainment freelancers has tweeted, “Anyone going on a long BUS ride (6+ hours) or a cruise soon and would be interested in getting paid to write about it?” There is no deadline for this opportunity. KRITIQAL is a website that “covers games as political instruments, artistic statements, and cultural objects.” They have tweeted, “We are looking for game crit pitches again. Particularly anything about smaller games, stuff I’ve never heard of, SEO nightmare kinda ideas.” They will pay $100 for 1,000 to 2,000 words. Send your pitches to contact@kritiqal.com. The Progress Network is “a movement that speaks to a better future in a world dominated by voices that suggest a worse one.” They are seeking “writers to profile/interview Justice Ayesha Malik, the first female judge nominated to Pakistan’s supreme court.” For something like a listicle, their rates start at $100. The Inspired Source is a solutions-focused opinion piece series by EachOther (a UK-based human rights project). They are looking for pitches: “Have you ever experienced abuse while working in retail? For #TheInspiredSource series, we want to commission someone to explore the rights impact of abuse in retail work environments.” The stories should be focused on the UK and the writers should be based in the UK as well. They prioritize emerging writers from marginalized backgrounds. They pay £100 per piece (600-900 words). Interested writers should send their pitches to editorial@eachother.org.uk. Personal Finance Insider is Insider’s personal finance section. They are “seeking stories from writers who left cults, high-demand religious groups, and other hyper-insulated communities about how these experiences affected their personal relationship with money.” They will pay $300 per piece (1,000 to 1,200 words). Editorialist is “a premier online magazine featuring the top edit in luxury accessories and fine jewelry.” Their senior beauty editor is looking to expand her freelance roster. The Daily Dot is a website that covers internet culture and life online. Their news director is seeking “story pitches at the intersection of internet culture/sports/race” for their Presser project. Sidecar Global creates “the professional development tools a leader needs to grow their career and their purpose-driven membership organization.” They are looking for 1 to 2 new contributors for their blog. Whetstone Magazine is a print and digital magazine about global food culture and origins. They are open for pitches. They pay a flat rate of $300 for journal stories. They want stories that “look at food through the lens of history, migration, culture, ecology, economy and/or politics, or vice versa.” They also want “poems, creative nonfiction, more academic-leaning work.” If interested, send your pitches to editor@whetstonemagazine.com. Input is a tech publication. They are looking to commission a longform feature (with a tech hook) about The Great Outdoors for a package they are doing in May. Rate is $0.75-$1.00 per word. Mental Hellth is “a newsletter about your broken brain.” They are accepting pitches: “reminder that i take pitches for Mental Hellth! Wanna interview someone about psychiatry and capitalism, or write an essay about some deep Freudian concept and how it applies to current events? Pitch me! (Those are just random examples, pitch me anything relevant!)” Their rates start at $150 for Q&As and $300+ for essays. Pitches should be emailed to moskowitz@gmail.com. The Financial Diet is “the #1 destination for women to talk about money.” Their creative director is seeking personal essays/video scripts for an ongoing project: “Do you have an interesting savings strategy you’d like to share? Fodor’s Travel is a source for expert travel advice. Their assignments editor is currently seeking stories ” from queer writers about womanhood and women in general for #WomensHistoryMonth.”  According to their editor, they pay $250 to $400 per story. FanSided is a network of fandom-focused sports, lifestyle, and entertainment websites. Their creative editorial director has tweeted, “I’m currently looking for any and all pitches for a special series later this year, exploring the intersection of sports and climate change. Maisonneuve is a Montreal-based quarterly of arts, opinion, and ideas. They are accepting pitches as well as complete submissions for their unthemed Summer 2022 issue. Discover Britain Magazine is a bimonthly magazine that unlocks the hidden treasures of the UK. Scotland Magazine is a bi-monthly magazine for those who love Scottish history, travel, and traditions. Fast Company’s Co.Design highlights “the world’s best examples of design and innovation, working in concert.” They are looking for freelance pitches. Their “coverage runs the gamut, but especially interested in sharp, reported takes on branding, product design, accessibility, and fashion/retail.” They are generally seeking pieces of around 750 words.
