The following is a list of traditional job openings for writers. This list includes famous media companies such as NBC, Rolling Stone, and Politico, as well tech companies such as Lyft, Patreon, and EA Sports.

Patreon is “a membership platform that makes it easy for artists and creators to get paid.” They are seeking a full-time Copywriter who will “write (a lot!) and concept big ideas within established brand guidelines for all mediums, including social, events, content, out-of-home, print, etc.” The applicant should have 5+ years of experience. Lyft is a technology platform that is best known for its ride sharing application. They are hiring:

• A Principal Writer to support their internal and external communications efforts. They want someone with “6+ years of relevant experience in executive communications, journalism or speechwriting.” The role is full-time and based in San Francisco, CA.
• A Content Strategist who will “own and contribute to messaging across all stages of the funnel.” They are looking for someone with 5 to 7 years of experience writing for an established consumer brand. The job is full-time and based in San Francisco, CA.

Bustle Digital Group (BDG) is a global media company. They are looking for:

• A Senior Entertainment Editor who will oversee the tone and scope of their entertainment coverage. The applicant should have 5+ years of entertainment coverage and feature editing experience. The job is full-time and based in New York, NY (remotely for the time being).
• A Deputy Entertainment Editor who will oversee day-to-day operations within their entertainment vertical. The candidate should have 5+ years of experience in entertainment or a similar field. The job is full-time and based in New York, NY.

The Daily Beast is a news and opinion website that focuses on politics, power, and pop-culture. They are hiring for the position of Senior Editor, World. The selected candidate will “assign and edit news pieces, features, investigations, and analytical stories for The Daily Beast on geopolitics, international security and cybersecurity, international crime, conflict, espionage, and more.” The candidate should have at least 10 years’ reporting/editing or equivalent experience. Eat This, Not That! is a healthy eating website. They are seeking a Staff Writer with at least 4 to 5 years’ experience working for an editorial website. The position is full-time and remote. Consumer Reports is “one of the world’s most influential mission-driven testing and media organizations.” They are hiring for the positions of:

NBCUniversal is a media and entertainment company. They are looking for:

• A full-time Assignment Desk Editor to arrange and coordinate news content. The candidate must be fluent in Spanish (speak, read, and write) and have at least 2 years of experience as an assignment editor. The position is located in Orlando, FL. Details here.

• A Contract Assistant Digital Editor who will help assign and edit web stories. The applicant should have at least 2 years of editing experience. Fluency in Spanish will be a plus. The position is temporary and will require 30-40 hours of work per week until the end of December 2020. There is potential for future contract or freelance work.
• A Copy Editor who will ensure the grammatical and stylistic accuracy of the published work. The copy editor will primarily focus on the print magazine. The applicant should have 2-5 years of copy editing experience. The job is based in Austin, TX but they are currently working remotely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
• A Contract Writer who will be responsible for delivering ambitious longform storytelling. The job is temporary and will continue until the end of December 2020. There is potential for extension. The job will likely be entirely remote.

The selected candidate will be “responsible for designing narrative systems and characters with a focus on a guided progression experience, player goals, achievements, and story arc” and will also “serve as a thought leader in championing and ensuring that the script, speech and story-telling devices are crafted to achieve a meaningful emotional narrative experience.” They want someone with “2+ years of experience on game development teams in narrative design, writing, and/or other aspects of game design.” The position is based in Orlando, FL.
