The Bell is Seeking Story Pitches for a National Student Reporting Initiative
The Bell builds “the next generation of journalists by expanding access to journalism education for students in public schools.” They’re seeking story pitches for their new national student reporting initiative, Firsthand: “We’re looking for story ideas from coast to coast about what’s happening in America’s schools. Selected students will work with me to shape their stories.”
They’re interested in 5 big themes:
1. How current events and policy affect school
2. Experiential learning and student engagement
3. Artificial intelligence and technology
4. What it’s like to be a young person today
5. Things that no one else is covering
Eligibility: Rising 10th-12th graders in public and charter high schools throughout the US are encouraged to pitch.

Future Matters is Hiring a Freelance Writer-Editor
Future Matters is “a think tank that supports effective action on the greatest global challenges of our time.” They’re hiring a Freelance Writer-Editor for their policy work and thought leadership. This is a freelance role requiring approximately 15 to 20 hours per week. Compensation ranges from €65 to €90 ($75 to $100) per hour. The position is remote. The Metropole is Seeking Pitches on Theme of Selling the City
The Metropole is the Urban History Association’s official blog. They’re soliciting pitches for their upcoming theme month, Selling the City:
“We welcome submissions focused on efforts to brand and market cities, build infrastructure supporting urban commerce, and drive urban tourism, as well as posts on financialization and real estate as factors shaping cities. Disegno is “a journal devoted to design and its impact on the world.” They’re commissioning an issue focused on the theme of “Transformation” in design. They’re seeking “stories, projects and imagery that can offer different interpretations of this theme, grounded in clear issues that pertain to contemporary design.”
For writers, they’re seeking pitches for “2,000-word articles that provide different interpretations of transformation in design, which should be linked to specific projects and issues from contemporary design disciplines.” They will pay £300 per essay and cover reasonable expenses.
