GameDaily.biz is a trade publication that “looks at the games business through the lens of culture.” Their editor is accepting feature (i.e. long-form story) pitches “right now”. They can only accept a few pitches but if you have a stellar idea and a business angle, then send it to astrawhun@gmail.com. They are especially seeking “pitches from and that feature underrepresented communities and identities.” Pay will be $200 per long-form story (800 to 1,200 words). Can I Play That? is a community where disabled gamers share their stories of game accessibility. They have tweeted, “Are you a Deaf or hard of hearing writer who loves horror games? We’ll Have to Pass is a newsletter that publishes one overlooked pitch or killed story every month. They are looking for your underappreciated and unplace-able pitches. They are “currently accepting pitches, with openings for regular freelancers.” They want your “most creative takes on music, pop culture, social issues, weird internet niches, memes, etc.” They pay $100 for less than 1,000 words, and $150 for over 1,000 words. Dazed is a British style magazine and an online platform that covers music, film, TV, fashion, art, culture, photography, politics, science, and technology. Their editor has tweeted, “Looking for some pitches and fresh, interesting angles on the following for Dazed: Bling Empire, Pretend It’s a City, Clubhouse.” “Adding Gossip Girl Reboot and Gossip Girl original feature ideas to this callout tied to its HBO release! National Catholic Reporter (NCR) is a biweekly newspaper that reports on “the Catholic Church and justice issues.” Their editor is looking for ideas for their culture section. Saint + Sofia is a sustainable fashion label based in London, England. They have launched a new digital and print magazine that covers fashion, culture, and lifestyle. Their editor is always looking for exciting and interesting voices, especially those under-represented in fashion and media. They pay about 15p per word. From A Climate Correspondent is a weekly newsletter that publishes stories of the climate crisis from reporters based outside the United States, Canada, and Europe. Their audience is largely based in the UK. They are seeking pitches for stories of 600 to 800 words (maximum 1,000 words) that shed light on an aspect of the climate crisis that their audience may not know that much about. Their stories are published in English but do not hesitate to pitch if your written English is not perfect. They also accept pitches in Spanish and translate articles from Spanish to English.
