RUNHER is Accepting Pitches for Issue 005

RUNHER is “a space for narrative, longform storytelling around female, trans, and nonbinary athletes.” They’re seeking pitches for Issue 005. Their editor-in-chief posted this on LinkedIn:

“RUNHER Magazine is looking for pitches for Issue 005! Think: ambitious, impactful stories that explore provocative ideas and big questions women face in the running space.”

“A couple topics we're interested in for the future: field sports; adaptive running; safety issues in women’s running (harassment, bullying); the business and financial side of women’s running; the politics of women’s and non-binary running; issues plus-size runners face in the sport (especially in terms of gear); extreme racing; original photo features; and more (please do not feel limited to these topics!).”

MIT Technology Review is Looking for Pitches

MIT Technology Review is a media company that explains the commercial, political, and social impact of the newest technologies. They’re seeking pitches for their upcoming print issue: The Impossible Issue.  

“The idea is to focus on some of the biggest goals and promises of our age and look at the hurdles that still remain. Think fusion. Room-temperature superconductors. Living to 150. Completely eliminating car accidents.”

“We’re looking for big swings: narrative features, essential profiles, and sharp reported essays to go in the feature well of the magazine. The initial deadline for pitches is Friday May 22.”

Women With Disabilities ACT is Accepting Submissions for Chronic Mischief

Women With Disabilities ACT is a systemic advocacy and peer support organization in ACT region, Australia. They’re accepting submissions for the second issue of their yearly magazine, Chronic Mischief, as part of the ‘Our Autonomy’ Project. They’re inviting both new and experienced writers and artists to contribute. They’re looking for “unpublished work by women, non-binary, and gender diverse people with disabilities, with a strong focus on entries from people living in the Canberra region and surrounds.” They will pay an honorarium of $100 to contributors. Tolka is Open for Submissions

Tolka is “a biannual literary journal of non-fiction: publishing essays, reportage, travel writing, auto-fiction, individual stories and the writing that flows in between.” They’re open for submissions. They publish work by both Irish and international writers. Their guideline word count for work is 1,000 to 3,000 words. They offer a flat fee of ‎‎€600. Exhume is Seeking Pitches on the Theme of Resonance

Exhume is “a new online publication championing scholarly-informed, accessible long-form criticism and analysis of Australian literature written by new and emerging researchers.” They publish contributions of 3,000 to 4,000 words by current HDR students and ECRs from across Australia and are particularly interested in highlighting regional perspectives. They’re currently accepting pitches for Issue 2. The theme is resonance. They encourage “contributions to consider how Australian texts or authors resonate on a personal, public, and/or academic level.” Pay is $300 per piece. The National Forest Foundation is Looking for Pitches for Light & Seed Magazine

The National Forest Foundation is an organization that restores and enhances National Forests and Grasslands. They’re seeking story pitches for Winter/Spring 2026 issue of Light & Seed magazine, which will focus on how tech and innovation intersects with National Forests and Grasslands in the U.S. Specifically, they’re seeking pitches for “The Response,” a department that “uses the pillars of solutions journalism to investigate how people are responding to an issue of national importance.” Rate is $1,000 for 1,000 words. Film Daze is Accepting Pitches

Film Daze is “an independent publication and media outlet that provides a platform for the unheard, and underrepresented voices of the film community.” They’re accepting pitches for their Issue 01. There is no theme. Payment is $120 for Issue 01, $150 for Issues 02-03, and $200 for Issue 04 and beyond, based on the paid subscriber base at the time. The Motley Fool is a financial and investing advice company. They’re seeking a Freelance Writer/Stock Analyst to contribute at least 20 articles a month. Rates range from $50 to $140 based on the article’s length and complexity. Articles on the higher end of the pay scale typically fall within the 600-800 word range. This Magazine is a Canadian progressive magazine of politics, arts, and culture. They’re open to pitches for their next issue. They’re seeking “features, columns, back page letters, and news pieces.” They only publish work by Canadian residents and pay $150-$300 for features and $60-$100 for columns. Minority Africa is Seeking Stories

Minority Africa is a digital publication that reports on African minorities using data-driven multimedia journalism. They’re seeking writers, journalists, and filmmakers who are interested in reporting stories about minorities within the African continent. MENT Magazine is Looking for Pitches for Issue 003

MENT Magazine is a Korean pop culture magazine that features critical and creative work about Korean media. They’re accepting pitches for Issue 003. They will pay $100 per contribution. For details, refer to their post and pitch guidelines.

Asian Dispatch is Seeking Pitches for Stories

Asian Dispatch is “a pan-Asia newsroom and network, producing and publishing public interest journalism.” They’re looking for “pitches from journalists across Asia on stories around Asian societies, culture, politics, technology, and climate.” “Brownie points for those who can think beyond their regions, and pitch cross-border, on-ground reportage, sharp/in-depth analysis, and personal essays.” They pay $250 for pieces that are up to 1,500 words long, and $350 for longer, cross-border reporting. Apartment Therapy's Lifestyle Team is Seeking Stories

Apartment Therapy is a home and decor website that features DIY how-to’s, design lessons, expert advice, and shopping guides for creating beautiful homes. Their Lifestyle team is now accepting “pitches for stories tied to upcoming holidays, events, and observances in October, November, and December.” They’re seeking fresh, thoughtful ideas across their Lifestyle verticals:

Kill Your Darlings is Open to Non-Fiction Pitches

Kill Your Darlings is an Australian online magazine that is dedicated to arts and culture. They’re open to non-fiction pitches. They’re seeking:

“- Intelligent and accessible essay/commentary (1200–2000 words) that analyses a cultural, political or societal issue of interest to KYD's progressive and engaged readership. Longer, investigative feature essays (2000–3000 words) will also be considered.

- Memoir or personal essay (1200–1500 words) that reflects on or tells us something broader about society, identity and/or culture.

- Smart, entertaining cultural criticism (1200–1500 words) that illuminates or engages with works and trends in art, literature or pop culture.

- Work that doesn't quite fit within the above categories but you think would be a good fit for us!”

The Citizens is a nonprofit journalism and campaigning organization that focuses on technology and politics. They’re seeking a Growth and Content Producer to help them build and grow their Substack community. The selected applicant will deliver one Substack Live event each week, source and book bold guests, and manage the upload of their weekly newsletter. This is a remote, freelance role. The Nonprofit Quarterly is Seeking Submissions for WE STOOD UP Column

The Nonprofit Quarterly (NPQ) is a nonprofit print and digital magazine that educates the nonprofit sector through research-based articles and resources. Design Observer is “a leading platform offering thought-provoking content on design, culture, and social innovation.” As Spooky Season creeps ever closer, they’re looking for “pitches from design practitioners and journalists on The Design of Horror | The Horror of Design.” Their pitch call states: “Whether you’re seduced by the scary or shy away from it, we want your take on the most chilling and thrilling ways that horror and design intersect. What cursed objects, theories, trends, policies, or people are haunting today’s designers? What horrors from history, and harbingers of frights still to come, should we be paying attention to? How can we dredge up enough final-girl energy to confront these resident evils? We welcome art-eds, op-eds, criticism, reported articles, and multimedia work from professional designers and journalists.” They offer a $150 honorarium for art-eds, op-eds, and essays (around 800 to 900 words).
