whynow is Seeking Pitches on Music, Art, Film, and TV

whynow is an online magazine and production studio that features stories from both emerging and established people in arts, music, and entertainment. They’re open for pitches for “great features, interviews, stories, and reviews in music, art, film and TV.” Pay is £80-£150 for the majority of pieces. Nat Geo Travel is Seeking an Estonia Travel Expert

Nat Geo Travel’s editor is seeking an Estonia travel expert. They’re looking for someone who specializes in writing guides and great quotes. They’re not looking for pitches. High Country News is Seeking Pitches from Southwestern Writers

High Country News is a non-profit magazine covering the Western US. They’re seeking pitches from Southwestern writers. If you have “a likely HCN story in AZ, CA, CO, NM, NV, UT, or the borderlands”, then send them your pitches. They pay $0.50-$1.50 per word for front-of-book reportage, news, and analysis (650-1,500 words) and a flat rate of $400 for essays and perspectives (750-800 words). Beer & Weed Magazine is Accepting Pitches

Beer & Weed Magazine is a monthly magazine that covers Maine’s craft brewing and cannabis communities. They’re accepting pitches. They only accept a couple of pitches a month, mostly from Mainers. International Journalists’ Network (IJNet) offers the latest tips, training opportunities, trends, and tools for professional and emerging journalists. If you know of any journalism tool, application or resource that they haven’t covered, then send them your pitches. Peste is a magazine about health journalism and human rights. They’re accepting pitches for commentary pieces, book reviews, interviews, and poetry. They want “aggressive, adversarial, iconoclastic, specific pieces that document the decisions, policies, and structures that produce illness and disease.” Rate is $100 for book reviews and commentaries.
