The Media Co-Op is Seeking Pitches

The Media Co-Op is a Canadian network of progressive news cooperatives. They’re looking for pitches. They’re seeking “grassroots journalism focused on important issues and struggles in or related to the Canadian context.” They pay $100 to $250 per article (600 to 1,500 words). Carefree is Accepting Pitches from Black Women Writers

Carefree is “a weekly newsletter from Black female voices around the world on life, love, adventure and everything in-between.” They’re always accepting new pitches from Black women writers. They want “personal essays with strong narratives and voice on life, love, adventure and everything in-between.” They’re currently trying something new and focusing on monthly themes. Following are their themes for the next few months:

– February: “How To Love”

– March: “Blooming Unconventionally”

– April: “Letting Go”

– May: “On Beauty”

Studio Magazine is Seeking Submissions for Fall/Winter 2024 Issue

Studio Magazine is a national publication about contemporary craft and design in Canada. They publish twice a year and have an ongoing web presence. They’re seeking submissions for their Fall/Winter 2024 issue: SPECTACLE. They want “essays on the spectacular in craft.” They’re interested in “how craftspeople, processes, materials, and work are used to draw attention.” Rate is $0.30 per word. IJNet is Open to Pitches from Journalists

International Journalists’ Network (IJNet) offers the latest tips, training opportunities, trends, and tools for professional and emerging journalists. Game Developer is a website that focuses on video game development and industry. Their senior editor is open to pitches (though they’re slow on accepting pitches at the start of the year, they do read every pitch and provide feedback when they can). Glamour is an online magazine for women. They cover beauty, fashion, entertainment, lifestyle, and celebrity news. Their website director would love to hear your pitches. The Sick Times is a site chronicling the Long Covid crisis. They’re accepting pitches for commentary and reported pieces:

– Commentary: They currently publish only one essay/commentary piece a month by outside contributors. They prioritize essays from writers with Long Covid and related diseases. They pay $250 for a piece of 1,000 words.

The Guardian is a British news and media website.
