The Guardian is a British news and media website. They are seeking pitches for Guardian Opinion. Their editor has tweeted, “Writers, we all need a laugh. The Freelancer’s Year offers tips, strategies, and guides about freelance writing. They are seeking an experienced op-ed freelance writer for writing a post of around 800 words on “how to write a great opinion piece.” They have got a comprehensive brief. Rate is $250 AUD. Taste of Home is an American cooking magazine. They are looking for freelance writers (primarily US-based but open to freelancers from other countries): “anyone who writes food news, home and garden, lifestyle + TikTok, slide into my DMs!” Pay starts at $100 for 300 to 400 words. Metro Opinion is a platform by Metro.co.uk. Their deputy editor is launching a series on ‘Tech we can’t live without’ and wants you to write about it. “It could be something mundane, or genuinely lifesaving, but all about a piece of tech you use daily.” They typically pay £100 for 800 words. Independent Voices is The Independent’s comment desk. They are “looking for ‘vibe shift’ pitches, tapping into vital conversations about life, relationships, work & our values.” According to payment reports, they pay £75-£90 for opinion pieces of 600-800 words. Autostraddle is an online sphere for lesbian, bisexual, and queer women. They are looking for US-based queer women and trans writers (particularly BIPOC) to write personal essays about how their state’s abortion restrictions are impacting their sex life and relationship(s). Pay is $200. Health.com is a source for information on fitness, nutrition, beauty, wellness, and lifestyle. Their editorial director is seeking writers, preferably those who’re also sexual health educators, for writing some reproductive and sexual health content for them. Yes! Magazine is an independent and nonpartisan publisher of solutions journalism. They are accepting pitches for their winter issue, “Bodies.” The issue will “explore the ways our bodies, in both the literal and metaphorical sense, can provide avenues for resistance, healing, community cohesion, and societal transformation.” Their “conception of the body is not limited to the physical body, but rather includes the bodies of which we are also a part: our communities, our body politic (local, national, and global), and our planet.” Their website base rate for reported articles is $0.40/word and print base rate is $0.50/word. Input is a publication that covers science, innovation, entertainment, gaming, and the mind and body. Their deputy editor is looking for a freelancer to write how-to tech guides. The freelancer must love tech (hardware as well as software). According to a previous Tweet (now deleted) by this editor, their rates start at $300 for reviews. They are seeking a number of freelance Tech News Reporters who will help them in creating 2nd-day articles on the biggest current tech news stories. This is a contract job.
