Frayme is Looking for Pitches

Frayme is a Canadian network for “improving access, quality and outcomes for Youth Mental Health & Substance Use.” They’re seeking pitches for blog pieces exploring themes such as “climate change & mental health, disability, two-eyed seeing, queer perspectives, 2SLGBTQI+ voices, newcomers’ journeys, and BIPOC lived experiences.” They will pay an honorarium of $40 per hour for up to 10 hours. Insider is Seeking Travel Enthusiasts and Amtrak Employees

Insider is a global news publication. Their associate editor of lifestyle and entertainment freelance writers is seeking travel enthusiasts and Amtrak employees who want to write about working on/going on particularly long train rides (10+ hours). Popular Science is a science and technology magazine. Their executive gear editor is seeking writers who can write buying guides for them next month. They will pay $450/story. The Lighthouse is Seeking Pieces on Black Art

The Lighthouse is “cultivating spaces of solidarity and safety for southern Black girls to shine through focused programming and research.” They’re seeking pieces on Black Art: “How is/will AI affect our art? How is the Writer’s Guild strike affecting our art? If you’re a writer and/or artist with an idea for a piece that fits our audience, send us a pitch!” Rate is $0.25-$1.00 per word for writers and $150-$1,000 for art (graphic design, cartoons, photo essays, etc.) To learn more, refer to their post and this page.

Sentient Media is Open to Pitches

Sentient Media is a news organization that reports on the impact of animal agriculture. They’re open to pitches for stories. International Examiner is Seeking an Op-ed on the Race for the City Council District 2

International Examiner is “the Pacific Northwest’s only nonprofit ANHPIA community media source since 1974, based in the heart of Seattle’s Chinatown-ID.” They’re seeking “a community contributor to write about their perspective on the race for the City Council District 2, which represents the CID and much of South Seattle.” They’re specifically seeking a contributor who supports Tanya Woo’s campaign. International Documentary Association is Accepting Pitches

International Documentary Association (IDA) supports “the vital work of documentary storytellers and champions a thriving and inclusive documentary culture.” For their Documentary magazine, they’re accepting pitches on a rolling basis for “coverage of new nonfiction films (timed to releases+premieres), themed essays of timely topics+retros, news of programs+funding+labs, festival dispatches, profiles of production companies, etc.” Rate is $250 to $800. The Great Central Gazette is a not-for-profit local newspaper in Leicester. They’re seeking environment features (800+ words). They want pieces that are about local climate/environment issues and are timely for September. Pay is 10p/word (£100 max).
