The Sask Dispatch is Accepting Pitches for Spring 2026 Issue
The Sask Dispatch is a Saskatchewan-focused news publication by Briarpatch Magazine. They’re accepting pitches for their Spring 2026 issue. Broadly, they’re always seeking “pitches covering provincial and municipal elections, grassroots activism, Indigenous rights, arts and culture, economic justice, ecology, gender equity, harm reduction, and more.” They pay $100 for profiles, short essays, and reviews (less than 1,000 words); $200 for feature stories (1,000-1,500 words) and photo essays; and $300 for research-based articles and investigative reportage (1,500-2,000 words). Transitions is Looking for Pitches About the Balkans
Transitions (TOL) is “a nonprofit organization established to strengthen the professionalism, independence and impact of the news media in the post-communist countries of Europe and the former Soviet Union.” They’re looking for pitches from freelance journalists, photographers, and multimedia creators covering the Balkans:
“We’re looking for original, in-depth reporting that sheds light on key issues shaping the region today. We welcome a range of formats – from written features and video to multimedia and data-driven pieces.
We welcome pitches for:
- Reported features (1,000–1,500 words)
- Photo essays with captions or short accompanying text
- Video or multimedia pieces
- Explainers or visual stories that combine reporting with graphics, data, or maps”

Disability Rights UK is “the UK's leading Disabled People's Organisation (DPO) led by, run by, and working for Disabled people.” They’re seeking pitches for their new blog series. They will be commissioning 5 pieces (around 500 to 1,000 words) about disability and colonialism, as part of their intersectionality work. Pay is £100 per piece. The Scottish BPOC Writers Network (SBWN) provides “advocacy, literary events, and professional development opportunities for BPOC writers based in or from Scotland.” We Are Here Scotland (WAHS) is “a space aimed at supporting and raising the voices of Black and Global Majority creatives & cultural professionals across Scotland.” They’re partnering with an open call for WAHS’s Creative Balance program on the theme “Defining Our Space: Literary Explorations of BPOC Creative Environments.” They’re looking for “pitches from BPOC writers exploring what constitutes nurturing, safer, and generative creative spaces for BPOC individuals, interrogating the physical, psychological, and/or cultural dimensions of space.” They will pay selected writers £150 each. Business Insider is Seeking Expat Stories
Business Insider covers business, personal finance, tech, lifestyle, politics, and more. Their senior editor is seeking pitches for expat stories. They have posted this on LinkedIn: “I'm looking for expat stories. Pitch me if:
1) You're from the US and moved to another country.
2) You're from another country and moved to the US.
3) If you're from the US, moved to another country, and then moved back to the US.

To-Go Zine is an LA-focused charity food zine. They’re looking for nonfiction and fiction content related to Los Angeles and the region’s food scenes. They’re especially interested in “undercovered and overlooked stories of people, organizations, and businesses affected by January’s wildfires and recent immigration raids.” They also seek “stories that represent Indigenous perspectives (this land’s original residents).” They pay $50 for short form content (around 500 words or fewer) and $100 for long form content (around 1,000 words or more). The Revelator is an online news and ideas website published by the Center for Biological Diversity. Mother Jones is an investigative news organization. Edutopia is Accepting Pitches
Edutopia provides information on what works in pre-K to 12 education.
