Chicken Soup for the Soul: Three themes
They want non-fiction prose and poetry. They have detailed guidelines as well as several suggested topics for each theme. Three of their upcoming themes are:

(stories submitted on this theme between July 2025 and November 21, 2025 are lost and they ask you to resubmit; some suggested themes are: When your dog is naughty; When your dog is remarkably well behaved; The crazy things you do for your dog; Did you ever "smuggle" your dog into a place you shouldn't have?; Does your dog steal food or things from you?; Does your dog talk back to you?; How my therapy dog has made a difference; Your work at a shelter or rescue organization; Holidays with your dog).

Apartment Therapy Media's Lifestyle Team is Seeking Pitches
Apartment Therapy Media is “the only media company dedicated to life at home.” Their Lifestyle team is accepting pitches for “stories tied to holidays, events, and observances happening in April, May, and June — think Easter, Mental Health Awareness Month, and Father’s Day.” They’re seeking personal, original, and timely ideas across their Lifestyle verticals:

The Metropole is Seeking Submissions for their Next Theme Month: Cities at Play
The Metropole is the Urban History Association’s official blog. They’re seeking submissions for their next theme month: Cities at Play. “We welcome submissions about any aspect of play, recreation, or leisure in the urban environment. How have cities uniquely shaped the way their inhabitants play, and how has play in turn shaped the built environment, the social dynamics, and the politics of cities? Green European Journal is Looking for Pitches
Green European Journal is a political ecology magazine. They’re seeking pitches for their next print edition which will explore Europe’s new demographic reality. They’re looking for essays, interviews, photo essays, graphic journalism, comics, and more. Below are some topics and angles you could cover:

The Contrapuntal is Accepting Pitches
The Contrapuntal is “an independent non-profit publication devoted to delivering rigorously researched, accessible, and factually accurate journalism from a ground-up perspective.” They’re accepting pitches for a new project, Post-Panoptics: Embodied Surveillance and the Architectures of Control. They invite “investigative journalists, academics, artists, and practitioners to map how power concentrates through the surveillance gaze — and how we might analyse and understand it.” They’re commissioning deep-dive investigative features (5,000 words, €1,000), visual essays (€1,000), illustrated graphic essays (€1,000), analytical op-eds (2,500-3,000 words, €500), and artistic features (€200 honorarium). Make a Scene is Seeking New Live-Action Roleplaying Scenarios
Make a Scene is North America's European-style larp scenario festival. They’re looking for “brand new live-action roleplaying scenarios exploring the festival theme of Tempo to premiere at Make a Scene in August 2026.” Scenarios should be new, written in English, designed for at least two players, and playable in four hours or less. GamesRadar+, a part of Future US Inc., is a website about games, movies, TV, and comics. They’re open to freelance pitches. The Flytrap is Open for Freelance Writer Pitches
The Flytrap is “a media collective focused on feminist cultural criticism that responds to and engages with cultural phenomena, rejecting algorithmic editorial strategies.” They’re accepting freelance writer pitches from July 1 to 5. They’re looking for deep evergreen cultural analysis. They pay $0.50 per word for written pieces. If they choose to kill an assignment, they pay a 50% kill fee. Studio Magazine is Accepting Pitches on the Theme of Resonance
Studio Magazine is a national publication about contemporary craft and design in Canada. They publish twice a year and have an ongoing web presence. They’re currently accepting “pitches for editorial articles, portfolio spreads, interviews, and review essays of craft exhibitions/archives/movements, on the theme of RESONANCE.” They accept pitches in both English and French. SAD Mag is Accepting Pitches and Submissions
SAD Mag is an independent, non-profit magazine covering Vancouver’s stories, art, and design from the perspective of local and emerging creatives. They publish a print issue twice a year and are currently accepting pitches and submissions for their 39th issue: TASTE. They posted this on Instagram: “From haute cuisine to corner store snacks, synaesthesia to style, we want your sharpest takes on what it means to have (or lack) taste—in food, fashion, music, culture and more.
