New Scientist is a weekly science and technology magazine. Their features editor is always seeking physics and tech features as well as interviews with fascinating scientists. KneeDeep Times is a digital magazine about climate resilience. They are “accepting story pitches, with a special interest in reporters covering climate resilience in their own communities around the greater SF Bay Area.” They strongly encourage young journalists and POC to apply. Type Investigations is a nonprofit investigative newsroom. They cover the “most urgent issues of our time, including racial and economic justice, climate and environmental health, and civil and human rights.” Their senior editor is accepting pitches at sasha@typeinvestigations.org. Their written features are generally 4,000-6,000 words and they typically pay $3,000-$6,000 (including travel and reporting expenses). Cosmopolitan UK is a women’s magazine for dating tips, sex advice, beauty tutorials, fashion trends, and celebrity news. Their acting entertainment editor has tweeted, “Looking for Entertainment pitches to run before 2022 –  topical, timely (Selling Sunset, Emily In Paris, And Just Like That etc) or a new take on the usual Christmas films (Love Actually, The Holiday, The Grinch ??).” Their rates start at £120. They are seeking “a freelancer with some solid space clips who’s up for pitching and writing one space story a week.” They pay $250 for straightforward news posts. BuzzFeed Culture is accepting pitches for their Body Week series. They are interested in “stories about body image, disability, the body and masculinity, cosmetic procedures and trends, and more.” They pay $100 to $300.
