The Sask Dispatch is Accepting Pitches for Spring 2026 Issue
The Sask Dispatch is a Saskatchewan-focused news publication by Briarpatch Magazine. They’re accepting pitches for their Spring 2026 issue. Broadly, they’re always seeking “pitches covering provincial and municipal elections, grassroots activism, Indigenous rights, arts and culture, economic justice, ecology, gender equity, harm reduction, and more.” They pay $100 for profiles, short essays, and reviews (less than 1,000 words); $200 for feature stories (1,000-1,500 words) and photo essays; and $300 for research-based articles and investigative reportage (1,500-2,000 words). Transitions is Looking for Pitches About the Balkans
Transitions (TOL) is “a nonprofit organization established to strengthen the professionalism, independence and impact of the news media in the post-communist countries of Europe and the former Soviet Union.” They’re looking for pitches from freelance journalists, photographers, and multimedia creators covering the Balkans:
“We’re looking for original, in-depth reporting that sheds light on key issues shaping the region today. We welcome a range of formats – from written features and video to multimedia and data-driven pieces.
We welcome pitches for:
- Reported features (1,000–1,500 words)
- Photo essays with captions or short accompanying text
- Video or multimedia pieces
- Explainers or visual stories that combine reporting with graphics, data, or maps”

Disability Rights UK is “the UK's leading Disabled People's Organisation (DPO) led by, run by, and working for Disabled people.” They’re seeking pitches for their new blog series. They will be commissioning 5 pieces (around 500 to 1,000 words) about disability and colonialism, as part of their intersectionality work. Pay is £100 per piece. Business Insider covers business, personal finance, tech, lifestyle, politics, and more. Their deputy editor of lifestyle and entertainment freelance writers is looking for pitches: “Have you ever arranged/sustained an unconventional living situation for a dream job?

They’re accepting pitches for their 42nd issue: “We are looking for writing that is pointed and pertinent to our time and place in arts and culture.
