Peace Insight is Always Looking for Pitches
Peace Insight is “the leading online platform for local analysis, insight, and mapping on peacebuilding around the world.” They’re always looking for “pitches for new content from local peacebuilders, as well as journalists deeply connected to locally led peacebuilding.” At the moment, they’re particularly interested in “pitches from Sudan, Afghanistan, Mali, Myanmar, and Palestine.” They pay £255 for stories (850 words) of local peacebuilding in action, £360 or £450 for feature articles (1,200 or 1,500 words) exploring key themes related to local peacebuilding, £150 for context analysis articles (500 words) providing brief local expert updates, and £255 for opinion columns (850 words) amplifying the perspectives of local peacebuilders on global issues. The National Forest Foundation is an organization that restores and enhances National Forests and Grasslands. They’re seeking story pitches for the Winter/Spring 2026 issue of their Light & Seed magazine, which will focus on “how technology and innovation intersects with National Forests and Grasslands in the U.S.” In particular, they’re looking for “stories about bioengineering, whether it’s a piece investigating the efficacy of a new kind of biochar that could remove forever chemicals from water or one assessing the current successes, challenges, and implications of blight-resistant American Chestnuts.” They will pay $1,000 for 1,000 words. Open Secrets is an online magazine that publishes memorable and revealing personal essays on the topics we are taught to keep “secret.” They’re seeking unpublished personal essays (1,000 to 2,000 words) about climate change and climate issues. Maisonneuve is Seeking Pitches for Fall 2025 Issue
Maisonneuve is a Montreal-based quarterly of “arts, opinion and ideas.” They’re looking for pitches for their Fall 2025 issue. They want “well-researched, narrative-driven stories that balance a sense of storytelling with thoughtful analysis; a strong point of view, argument or ‘so what’ principle; lyrical, literary scene-setting that draws the reader in.” They usually work with Canadian contributors, but are not opposed to working with others, provided their stories are relevant to a Canadian readership in some way. STEVE JOBS MONOGRAPH is “an upcoming publication on the 2015 film Steve Jobs.” They’re looking for “8 well-researched, well-written pieces, each approaching the work through a different element of the filmmaking.” They will pay $100 per piece. For details, refer to this post and their pitch form.

Trails is Open to Pitches
Trails is a quarterly, print-only magazine for “backpackers and people who sleep in the dirt.” The focus of the magazine is on “backpacking and other human/naturally-powered means of sleeping outdoors: bikepacking, canoe camping, even things like rafting or mountaineering are fair game.” The main emphasis of the magazine is on North American destinations. They’re always looking for story ideas from writers, photographers, etc. Feature length can be between 1,000 to 5,000 words. According to their pitch guide, they pay writers at least $0.50 to $2 per word, depending on the difficulty of the story, the writer’s experience, and the commitment required. They can pay $35 to $400 per photo.
