Bethune and Sun, a boutique store in Texas that “caters to the distinct lifestyle and recreations of the South Texan gentleman” is currently hosting a short story contest.
The theme is “Life and Stories from the Gulf Coast” The grand prize is $1,000. The contest is open to U.S. residents.
According to their contest rules:
“Every entry must follow the theme of “Gulf Coast”, discuss or reference the theme of the Texas Gulf Coast in some way, shape or form, and must clearly add to the narrative of Texas life (i.e. stories about the Louisiana or Mexico gulf coast will not count). Your plot does not need to revolve around the theme, but should strongly incorporate it into your story in any way you best see fit (e.g. setting, character background, dialogue, etc.)”
The deadline to enter the contest is October 2nd, 2020.
The stories must be 5,000 words or fewer. The contest is open to all writers in the U.S. Those under 18 will receive the money as a “scholarship.”
