They also accept translations. They are open for the first week of every second month: January, March, May, July, September, and November.
Deadline: 7 January 2023
Length: Up to 10,000 words
Pay: CAD0.01/word
Details here.
(Another magazine that is closing soon is diet milk. They publish work on gothic themes – fiction, poetry, and art. Send stories up to 5,000 words, or up to 3 poems. Pay is $0.01/word for fiction, $15 for poetry. The deadline is 8 January 2023; details here and here.

One Story
They publish one piece of literary fiction per issue. For this reading period, they will open submissions via Submittable in mid-January, and will close submissions when the cap is reached. They also accept translations. Regarding reprints, if a story has been published in print outside of North America, it will be considered. Apart from cash payment, they also give 25 contributor copies.
Opens on: 15 January 2023; will close when filled
Length: 3,000-8,000 words
Pay: $500
Details here.

Dark Matter Magazine
They publish dark sci-fi and sci-fi/horror, including translations. “Dark Matter Magazine aims to bring you stories that explore the shadow side of reality. This does not mean that the story must be cynical or misanthropic. Even stories of hope and optimism can arrive at their theses after first taking us on a journey through the most downtrodden fringes of society, or the deepest reaches of space, or the darkest corners of the mind. But stories don’t always have happy endings either, and sometimes people get hurt. … Cosmic horror, weird fiction, sci-fi thriller, and cyberpunk are some of our favorite sub-genres.”
Deadline: 15 January 2023
Length: 1,000-5,000 words
Pay: $0.08/word
Details here.
(Submissions are also open for their anthology, Monster Liars; they want stories of 2,000-4,000 words, pay $0.08/word, and are open till 5th February 2023, see Tweet; the last week of the submission period, i.e. 30 January to 5th February, is only for underrepresented writers. Details here, here, and here.)

Fusion Fragment
They publish science fiction and SF-tinged literary fiction. “Although any science fiction subgenre is fair game, our tastes lean towards slipstream, cyberpunk, post-apocalypse, and anything with a little taste of the bizarre. FF prefers character-driven stories, and often skews towards quiet, reflective pieces. If the primary tone of your story is one of high adventure or humour, it’s probably not the right fit for FF. That said, quality always outstrips genre preference in terms of importance, so feel free to send us anything that even vaguely resembles science fiction.” They publish one reprint per issue.
Reading period: 9-22 January 2023
Length: 2,000-15,000 words
Pay: CAD3.5c/word, up to CAD300
Details here.

Nashville Review
This magazine is associated with Vanderbilt University. They publish fiction (including flash and novel excerpts), creative non-fiction (across the spectrum, including memoir excerpts, essays, imaginative meditations), poetry, translations, and art. They accept submissions of art and comics year-round, and other genres are accepted in January, May, and September. Submissions may close earlier than scheduled if the cap is reached.
Deadline: 31 January 2023, or until filled
Length: Up to 8,000 words for prose, up to 3 poems
Pay: $25 for poetry, $100 for prose
Details here.

Pulp Literature
They publish short fiction (all genres, not just pulp), poetry, as well as art and comics. They want entertaining, accessible stories. Query first if your story is longer than 10,000 words; while they do publish one story of 15,000-20,000 words per issue, chances of acceptance are higher for works up to 5,000 words. They also accept reprints.
Deadline: 31 January 2023 for fiction; poetry, art through the year
Length: Prefer up to 5,000 words, do accept longer works too – see above
Pay: $0.05-$0.08/word for stories up to 5,000 words,  $0.03-$0.06/word for stories of 5,000-10,000 words, $0.02-$0.04/word for over 10,000 words; $25-50 for poetry
Details here.

The Deadlands
Their January reading period is for Black authors only, for fiction and poetry; non-fiction is open to all. They’ll open fiction and poetry to all authors in February. They seek works regarding death. They have detailed guidelines, including, “The Deadlands exists in liminal spaces between life, death, and elsewhere. We are looking for fiction that concerns itself with death—but also everything death may involve.
A ghost in a shadowed wood. An afterlife discovered through a rusted door. An abandoned house in the middle of a haunted field. A skeletal figure moving with intent toward something unseen. Death personified. Burials in troubled lands. A raised scythe against a clouded sky. Memento mori. The rivers of the dead. The sprawling underworlds beneath our feet.” They also accept fiction reprints.
Deadline: 31 January 2023 (see above)
Length: Up to 5,000 words for fiction, 1,000-4,000 words for non-fiction, up to 3 poems

Mysterion
They want science fiction, fantasy and horror stories that engage meaningfully with Christian themes, characters or cosmology. The stories need not teach a moral, or be close to an approved theological position, or be pro-Christian. They are especially interested in stories that show Christians from cultures beyond those of the United States, Canada, and Western Europe. They also accept translations and reprints. They have two annual reading periods for fiction, January and July. They are open through the year for art submissions.
