Politico is a news and information company that covers politics and policy in the US and the rest of the world. Their senior editor is looking for pitches. According to payment reports, they pay up to $0.43 per word. For more information, read their senior editor’s Tweet and their writer’s guide.

We Are Rosie is a “community of independent marketing experts, available on-demand to augment, complement, backfill, or accelerate your in-house team and capabilities.” They would be honored to publish trans marketers’ “thought leadership on anything related to work / future of work.” They will pay $100 per article. Home Business Magazine Online helps people start-up and succeed in home-based businesses. They are seeking writers for business/work-from-home success stories. Their articles are typically either 1 page (length: 700 words), 2 pages (length: 1,200 to 1,400 words) or 3 pages (length: 2,100 to 2,300 words). They pay $0.20 per word. The Inspired Source is a solutions-focused opinion piece series by EachOther (a UK-based human rights project). The series contains stories (400 to 600 words) that “examine a human rights issue by which the writer or their community are affected.” They are accepting pitches. Indiegraf is “a network of journalist-entrepreneurs and independently-owned digital publishers sharing resources to serve their local communities sustainably.” They have a weekly newsletter called Indie Publisher that demystifies news entrepreneurship. They are seeking stories (500 to 600 words) on “innovative things indie publishers are doing to build their news outlets.” They pay $400 CDN per piece. World Politics Review publishes “in-depth news and expert analysis on global affairs.” Their editor is looking for feature story pitches, especially from writers of color and women. For briefings, they pay a standard honorarium of $250. For feature articles, they negotiate the rates individually. Pitches should be sent to submissions@worldpoliticsreview.com. TC Jewfolk is an independent Jewish online media hub that engages, informs, and connects the Jewish community in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. They are looking for submissions. They have tweeted, “Jewfolk covers more than the news: creative work, personal reflections, and opinion pieces welcome! Send drafts & pitches to editor@tcjewfolk.com.” Their rates start at $75/piece. Go Fund Bean exists to “support, uplift, and defend the hourly coffee professional in every way possible.” They are accepting pitches for their monthly Patreon newsletter, Calibration notes. You can send them “any coffee- or tea-related story that you care about, especially ones you don’t see talked about much elsewhere.” They will pay $200 per piece (about 800 to 1,000 words). Affilimate is an analytics SaaS platform for affiliate publishers. They are hiring a freelance writer who will help educate their “community of publishers (and convert prospective customers!) on how to grow the profitability of their website as an affiliate.” The selected applicant will write an average of 2 articles/month (subject to increase to 4 articles/month over the next few months). Studio Gannett is USA TODAY’s in-house production company. They create magazines and tabloid publications. They are looking for “contributors for several pubs, including a COVID-19-themed tab, lifestyle mags and titles targeted toward racial minorities.” They will pay about $1 per word. Popular Mechanics is a source for tech, science, math, aerospace, military, and auto news. They are looking for “a few (or maybe even a lot of) gear-loving freelance writers and editors” as they expand their coverage of “tools, outdoor gear, consumer tech, appliances, and lawn and garden equipment.” They typically pay $250 to $350 for lists/roundups of recommendations. The Xylom is a media outlet that creates “personal stories of science and humanity.” They are accepting pitches for stories (1,200 to 1,500 words). The topics that they are interested in are: “Energy: Stories of getting supercharged; Home: Stories of making space; Covid-19: Stories of solitude, soul-searching, and self-discovery (open to non-scientists); Climate: Stories of change, action, and resilience (open to non-scientists); brack•ish: Stories of being in between (open to Black and Indigenous scientists only).” They pay $25 to $60 USD for personal stories. Scholastic is “the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books.” Their STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) classroom magazines are seeking freelance writers.
