The 2019 Young Explorer’s Adventure Guide is currently in need of submissions of science-fiction stories aimed at an eight to twelve year old audience. They like science fiction stories only, in “all its variants.” They do not want fantasy — just science fiction.

According to their submission guidelines, they want stories that:

• Have a main character that a middle grade reader (ages 8-12) can identify with;
• Show a diverse set of real characters;
• Are well written, fun to read, and encourage a love of reading science fiction;
• Tell of adventure, space, science.  Give us rockets, robots and alien encounters, and we’re pretty happy; Steampunk, time travel, weird west and alternate history are all fine;
• Are between 3,000 and 6,000 words.

They pay 6 cents per word, up to 6,000 words.

The deadline for submission is December 15th, 2018.
