Deadline: 14th July 2026 (11.59 AEST)
Length: Up to 1,000 words for flash fiction/non-fiction, up to 4,000 words for short fiction/non-fiction, poetry up to 50 lines

Augur Magazine
This is a magazine of speculative fiction and poetry, and they are open currently to international submissions, which are capped, and also to Canadian submissions. “Our perfect submission defies categorization—pieces that could be “too speculative” for CanLit or literary magazines or “not speculative enough” for speculative magazines. However, we also love a good genre romp, and will publish across many genres, including:
- Fantasy
- Science fiction (softer side)
- Dystopia/utopia
- Apocalypse/post-apocalypse
- Slipstream
- Fairytales
- Fables
- Fabulism
- Magical realism (note: educate yourself before you claim this term)
- Dreamy realism
- Myth and folklore”
Poetry is open, as well. Translations are closed.

Haven Speculative
They publish speculative fiction and poetry. They have Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall submission periods. “Our submission cycle is split into four reading periods, each containing three parts: a month explicitly reserved for submissions by authors of color, members of LGBTQIA+ communities, and writers belonging to other underrepresented groups; a month open to general submissions, during which anyone may submit; and a month in which we’re closed to submissions so that we may do the difficult (and exciting!) work of choosing content for future issues.”
Till 31 July 2026, they want submissions from underrepresented writers only; “authors of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and other underrepresented groups.” They also publish climate crisis focused Dry and Wet issues each year; scroll down on the guidelines page for these themes. In August, they will open submissions for all writers.
Deadline: 31 July 2026 (underrepresented writers only)

Pay: $0.08/word for fiction, $20/poem

Fusion Fragment
They want science fiction or SF-tinged literary fiction stories and novelettes. And, “Although any science fiction subgenre is fair game, our tastes lean towards slipstream, cyberpunk, post-apocalypse, and anything with a little taste of the bizarre. FF prefers character-driven stories, and often skews towards quiet, reflective pieces. If the primary tone of your story is one of high adventure or humour, it’s probably not the right fit for FF. That said, quality always outstrips genre preference in terms of importance, so feel free to send us anything that even vaguely resembles science fiction.” Submission is via a form.
Deadline: 31 July 2026
Length: 2,000 to 15,000 words
Pay: CAD0.04/word up to CAD400
Details here.
Feign

Details here.
Cleaveland Review of Books
They accept pitches and submissions of critical essays / reviews from writers in Cleveland and Ohio, as well as the Rust Belt and greater Midwest, but a regional connection is not a requirement. They also accept fiction submissions. “Lorain beams across us and the lake, readying us to send new signals outward.
Looking for work from Clevelanders and those in Lorain, and from anywhere in the world that has been touched by the ricochet of these beams, and from anyone who has risked, in many forms, and has taken a formal risk.”
Deadline: Ongoing
Length: Up to 5,000 words for fiction
Pay: $50 for online, $100 for print, for fiction; $100-200 for critical prose
