Their primary areas of coverage fall into the following categories:

Eleven is a content writing service that offers professionally edited articles written by topic-expert writers. They’re seeking a Freelance Editor to help them produce high-quality, expert-led content for a range of industries. The editor should have 3+ years of experience. The role is remote. This is a contractor position starting at about 10 to 15 hours per week, with the opportunity to expand to 30 to 35 hours per week in the long term. RUNHER is Looking for Pitches for Issue 003

RUNHER is “a space for narrative, longform storytelling around female, trans, and nonbinary athletes.” For Issue 003, they’re seeking ambitious pitches about women’s running. They’re especially interested in “exploring topics including track and field; adaptive running; the business and financial side of women’s running; the politics of women’s running; how running/track and field is evolving at the youth and masters level; and more.” Their features are 1,000 to 3,000 words and pay $0.50 to $1.00 a word. shado is Accepting Pitches

shado is “a lived-experience led community of artists, activists, organisers, creators and writers united in the fight for social justice and collective liberation.” According to their pitching guidelines: “We publish long-form journalism that provides critical and community-centred analyses of a range of topics including politics, activism, arts & culture, opinions, and profiles. We are committed to publishing work that contributes to our movements for liberation and commission work that aligns with these political values. We aim for the majority of our content to be evergreen articles that centre joy and solutions-oriented commentary alongside work that highlights our current realities and spotlights work looking to resist current systems of oppression.” Their base rate for articles between 1,200 and 1,800 words is £100. China Books Review is “a digital magazine on all things China and bookish.” They’re “a literary review for all general readers interested in China and the Sinophone world, publishing reviews, essays, excerpts, profiles and book lists, as well as a monthly podcast and comprehensive lists of all China-related books.” They’re currently accepting contributions for the following sections:

Parapraxis is an all-volunteer, print and online magazine of psychoanalysis. They publish twice a year in print (themed issues) and semi-frequently on their website (unthemed). They’re currently looking for pitches for Issue 08: Groups (Summer/Fall 2026) and for their (un-themed) website. Print rates range from $500 to $800 depending on length. The Nonprofit Quarterly (NPQ) is a nonprofit print and digital magazine that educates the nonprofit sector through research-based articles and resources. They’re looking for submissions for their WE STOOD UP column: “We Stood Up offers workers, builders, & organizers the opportunity to share a first-person story from their work & world. MIT Technology Review is a media company that explains the commercial, political, and social impact of the newest technologies. For their upcoming print issue, they’re looking for pitches on the theme of Nature: “Please note we cast a wide net with these themes. With Nature, we're not only looking for stories about ecology and ecosystems, flora and fauna, but about a range of topics related to the natural world and/or the nature of our world. That could include, for example, a physics story. Or something involving human nature.” They’re seeking pitches for longer pieces: “narrative features, compelling investigations, essential profiles, and super-sharp essays, all with a technology angle.” While this pitch call is aimed at journalists, experts with strong ideas are also encouraged to reach out. The BREAK—DOWN is Open for Pitches

The BREAK—DOWN explores “the political economy of climate and ecological crisis.” They’re open for pitches for their third print issue, Airborne, on “the importance of air in the climate crises, its role in environmental history + activism, and its future on a transformed planet.” They’re interested in “diverse interpretations of the theme, from carbon removal and mobility to struggles over urban pollution and the fate of the world’s forests.” They’re seeking “argumentative essays, memoir, original translations, photojournalism, reportage and dispatches from around the world.” Rate is £650 for pieces of around 3,000 words. Oregon Humanities Magazine is Accepting Submissions on the Theme of “Labor"

Oregon Humanities Magazine is a triannual publication that “connects Oregonians to ideas that change lives and transform communities.” They’re open for submissions for their spring issue. The theme is “Labor.” They’re seeking stories about work, effort, and toil. They hope to address work of all kinds: “physical, mental, and emotional, done for money, for pleasure, or for the benefit of our families and communities.” They’re interested in “labor as a collective effort, as in the labor force or the labor movement, as well as individual exertions.” They welcome “all forms of nonfiction writing from Oregon residents, including essays, journalism, criticism, and excerpts from forthcoming or recently published books.” Their features generally range from 1,500 to 4,000 words. Campfire Stories is Seeking Stories about the Oregon Coast

Campfire Stories is “a collection of books and card decks brought to you by Ilyssa and Dave Kyu to inspire deeper connections and storytelling in the outdoors.” They’re looking for nature and place-based stories for their new Oregon Coast collection. The stories should “capture the essence of the region, highlighting the distinctive natural features, flora, fauna, community, history, and experiences of the Oregon Coast.” They accept diverse forms of writing, for example, essays, prose, poetry, ballads, and short stories. Pieces should not exceed 2,000 words.
