This Magazine is Seeking Pitches

This Magazine is a Canadian progressive magazine of politics, arts, and culture. They’re accepting pitches for their next print issue. They’re seeking “features, news and arts stories, memoir and opinion columns, a culture column, and a back page letter.” Rates are $150-$300 for features, $60-$100 for columns, and $75 for online exclusive news pieces. Southwest Contemporary is Seeking Pitches on the Theme of Alien

Southwest Contemporary is “the leading resource for contemporary arts and culture in the Southwest.” They’re seeking pitches for their Fall-Winter 2026-27 print issue—themed “Alien”:

“We seek writers based in or closely connected to the North American Southwest to submit story ideas for our Fall-Winter 2026-27 issue, Volume 14: Alien. Pitches should be focused on contemporary artists working in the region who are grappling with political, social, psychic, and cosmic dimensions of the alien.”

They’re looking for studio visits/artist profiles (800 words); reporting (1,200 to 2,000 words); features (1,200 to 2,000 words); creative essays (400 to 700 words); interviews (500 to 2,000 words); cultural criticism (1,200 to 2,000 words); travel writing / field reports (1,200 to 1,500 words); and reviews (300 words). The BREAK—DOWN is Accepting Pitches for Issue #4: China

The BREAK—DOWN explores “the political economy of climate and ecological crisis.” They’re accepting pitches for Issue #4: China.

“For Issue #4 of our print journal, we are looking for pitches that examine the complexity of China’s role in climate and ecological crisis. How has the Chinese state managed to hold apparently contradictory positions together? What role has the rise of Chinese renewable technology had in decentering hubristic assumptions about Western leadership or in accelerating the rise of a new Cold War? How does China’s current role in global environmental politics relate to its historical and developmental trajectory? And how does Chinese environmental politics and power play out on the ground, whether in China itself, or through its extended network of debt and investment?”

Channel Kindness is Seeking Stories in Honor of Transgender Day of Visibility

Channel Kindness is a digital platform created by the Born This Way Foundation. They’re looking for stories in honor of Transgender Day of Visibility:

“In honor of Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31), Channel Kindness is inviting our community, including trans and gender expansive young people to submit powerful stories for a special series, Trans Visibility Stories: ‘Visible and Proud.’ Ten (10) storytellers will be selected to share their essays that integrate their lived experience with relevant research on the experiences of trans and gender expansive young people. Your story may be used to help inform future research, resources, and initiatives designed to support trans and gender expansive young people.”

The National Forest Foundation is Looking for Pitches for Light & Seed Magazine

The National Forest Foundation is an organization that restores and enhances National Forests and Grasslands. They’re seeking story pitches for Winter/Spring 2026 issue of Light & Seed magazine, which will focus on how tech and innovation intersects with National Forests and Grasslands in the U.S. Specifically, they’re seeking pitches for “The Response,” a department that “uses the pillars of solutions journalism to investigate how people are responding to an issue of national importance.” Rate is $1,000 for 1,000 words. Film Daze is Accepting Pitches

Film Daze is “an independent publication and media outlet that provides a platform for the unheard, and underrepresented voices of the film community.” They’re accepting pitches for their Issue 01. There is no theme. Payment is $120 for Issue 01, $150 for Issues 02-03, and $200 for Issue 04 and beyond, based on the paid subscriber base at the time. Shadowbanned Magazine is Accepting Pitches for Issue 05

Shadowbanned Magazine is “unapologetic media for the next generation of the political left — independent, people-powered, and rooted in the worlds of politics and culture.” They’re accepting pitches for their Issue 05:

“Share with us your boldest essays, reviews, interviews, reports, articles, poems, features, and whatever else would never get a mainstream media editor’s approval. Work that challenges the status quo and pokes at the machinery behind it.”

“We’re looking for work whose ideology sits somewhere within the framework of the political left… and no, that doesn’t mean liberal. We’re not interested in critiques of dicktatorsheeps halfway across the world unless it’s our own in the so-called land of the free.”

Call for Applications: Writer in Residence Program

Variable West is “a nonprofit magazine that supports and empowers the West Coast art world by nurturing regional communities and international conversations.” Wa Na Wari is “an immersive community art project that reclaims Black cultural space and makes a statement about the importance of Black land ownership in gentrified communities.” They have partnered to offer an art writer residency program based in Seattle, Washington. The residency will place “two writers in deep engagement with Wa Na Wari to produce six 600–800-word pieces of critical writing about the organization’s programming to be published on Variable West.” Rate for each piece will be $600. New Naratif is Seeking Stories on the Theme of Disarming the National Canon

New Naratif is “a movement to democratise democracy in Southeast Asia.” This August, they’re seeking “stories on Southeast Asian-ness under the theme of Disarming the National Canon.” They’re looking for features or explanatory articles (1,500 to 2,000 words). Minority Africa is a digital publication that reports on African minorities using data-driven multimedia journalism. Grüns is a wellness company that sells vegan gummy supplements. They’re seeking a Freelance Product Development Packaging Editor for a special project. The Welsh Agenda, produced by the Institute of Welsh Affairs, is one of the top current affairs magazines in Wales. They’re seeking article pitches on any topic related to Wales’ constitutional future. They want to “hear from policy professionals, writers, freelancers and content creators who want to have their research platformed, ahead of the next Welsh Government.” As per a previous post by the Institute of Welsh Affairs, they pay £100-£150 per piece. Orion Magazine will be Accepting Nonfiction Story Pitches

Orion Magazine is an environmental magazine that publishes quarterly. From August 1 to 15, they will be accepting “nonfiction story pitches for their Spring 2026 Labor Issue: Working the Land (intersection between labor and the more-than-human world—animal rights, working creatures, and models of collectivity in nature).” According to this post, they pay $1,000 per piece.
