Planetizen is Always Seeking Feature Articles
Planetizen is “a fiercely independent platform that creates, curates, and amplifies stories and resources to inform planning and people passionate about planning.” They’re always looking for feature article pitches that offer an expert lens to the key planning issues of today. The National Forest Foundation is Seeking Stories about Bioengineering
The National Forest Foundation is an organization that restores and enhances National Forests and Grasslands. They’re seeking story pitches for the Winter/Spring 2026 issue of their Light & Seed magazine, which will focus on “how technology and innovation intersects with National Forests and Grasslands in the U.S.” In particular, they’re looking for “stories about bioengineering, whether it’s a piece investigating the efficacy of a new kind of biochar that could remove forever chemicals from water or one assessing the current successes, challenges, and implications of blight-resistant American Chestnuts.” They will pay $1,000 for 1,000 words. Business Insider covers business, personal finance, tech, lifestyle, politics, and more. Their deputy editor is seeking personal essay pitches on sleepovers. Current Affairs is Accepting Pitches
Current Affairs is a magazine of political commentary and analysis. They’re accepting writing pitches. They’re “especially interested in pieces related to animal welfare, but welcome pitches on any topic.” They pay $250 per online article, $350 per print article, and $75 per poem. The Liberalist is Seeking Pitches
The Liberalist is “a pro-freedom magazine promoting individual liberty, free markets, and limited government.” They aim to enlighten Africans about their rights. They’re looking for pitches for their upcoming issue: “For our upcoming issue at The Liberalist, we’re exploring the gap between what African governments say and what they leave out. Our theme, ‘The Governance Gab: What African Governments Won’t Tell You,’ is about exposing the untold truths, the uncomfortable facts, and the everyday realities behind official narratives. We want well-told stories or sharp analyses that help readers understand why things aren’t working and what works but not talked about.” You can submit reported features (1,200 to 1,500 words), deep analysis or commentary (1,200 to 1,500 words), personal essays, or country or issue-based investigations. They “primarily focus on road running, but will be including stories around track, trail running, and ultrarunning as well.” Their features range from 1,000-5,000 words or longer and pay $0.50 to $2.00 a word.
