This should be interpreted expansively and imaginatively. Their guidelines say, \u201cAs we move forward into the age of information, what happens to our ideas of detection and crime? How do you handle it when your smart car blackmails you or you need to murder the downloaded personality of your enemy? What acts to enforce society&#8217;s norms and catch those violating them in the future? Will our definitions of crime\u00a0\u2014\u00a0or punishment\u00a0\u2014\u00a0change, and what new forms of either might appear?\u201d Among the stories they hope to see are updated tropes like but not limited to the hardboiled detective, the police procedural, or the locked room mystery; kidnapped AIs, stolen memories and identities, virtual crimes vs physical ones.<br \/>\nDeadline: 15 January 2022<br \/>\nLength: 1,500-5,000 words<br \/>\nPay: $0.08\/word<br \/>\nDetails <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arcmanorbooks.com\/thereinventedanthology\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alpennia: The Lesbian Historic Motif Podcast<br \/>\n<\/strong>They want historic fiction with lesbian themes, which will be published online and on their podcast. \u201cStories must be set in an actual historic culture&#8211;i.e., a specific time and place in history&#8211;and the plot and characters should be firmly rooted in that time and place. (No time-travel or past memories, please.)\u201d Stories\u00a0<em>may<\/em>\u00a0include fantastic elements that are appropriate to the historic setting (see guidelines) and must be set before 1900. Romance is optional, and romance stories should have some other significant plot element in addition to the romance; they do not want erotica. Stories should feature lesbian-relevant themes.
