Cast of Wonders<\/strong>
\nThis is a YA speculative fiction online magazine and podcast, aimed at the 12-17 age range \u2013 they have extensive submission guidelines. They also accept translations, reprints, and submissions from young writers. They have short submission windows for two themes: Banned Books Week<\/strong>, which is open now (the 2021 theme for Banned Books Week is, Books Unite Us. Censorship Divides Us. \u2013 see the submission\/Moksha portal for details), and Seasonal Holiday Submissions\/\/Special Events<\/strong>, which will open for submissions soon. \n<\/strong>Electric Literature\u2019s \u2018The Commuter\u2019 publishes poetry, flash, graphic, and experimental narratives. It publishes weekly and they have a brief submission period for prose (up to 1,500 words \u2013 one standalone or up to three interconnected), poetry, and graphic narrative.

Hex Publishers: Shadow Atlas \u2013 Dark Landscapes of the Americas
\n<\/strong>This is a dark fiction and poetry anthology. Their guidelines say, \u201cWe seek haunting and folkloric tales where setting is character and landscape is an essential part of the story. We want stories that draw from the wellspring of cultural destinations and local folklore in their shaping – most especially, stories that are tied to a specific and concrete location. This can include places that never existed, or those with connections created by the author, but they must take place in South America. Original tales, mash-ups, and new takes on known folkloric elements\/cryptids\/legends are all welcome.\u201d Short stories must be exclusively set in South America, and poetry must be set in the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico, and South America.

Their guidelines say, \u201cwe believe nature writing can tackle all sorts of issues: from stories of farming to long treks, tales of migration, racism, community, and beauty. \n<\/strong>This is an Australian magazine of short fiction and poetry. Their website<\/a> says the magazine \u201c…was created out of a love for intriguing short fiction that explores \u2013 by fantastical means \u2013 what it is to be human.\u201d Also, \u201cWe specialise in prose and poetry that can be defined roughly by the genre of magic realism. Whilst the official definition for magic realism states it is a form of literature that deals, in an accepting fashion, aspects of life usually represented as outside reality, we prefer to cast our nets a little bit wider.
