They can be in space, superheroes,\nbut they must be from the African Diaspora.\u201d Also,\n\u201cWe want stories of vampire hunters, of anti-vampiric\nheroes\/heroines, and more. If you can take the story out of westernized\nculture, we\u2019d love to see those, too! We want stories that speak of\ninclusivity\u201c, so stories with disabled vampires or those with LGBTQ+ themes are\nwelcome. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n<\/strong>The editors of this speculative fiction\nmagazine want stories that are \u201cfun\u201d. Their guidelines say, \u201cA fun story, at\nits core, is one that works on the premise that things aren\u2019t all bad; that\nultimately, good wins out. This doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that your story has to\nbe silly or lighthearted (though it certainly can<\/em> be). Joy can be made all the more powerful when juxtaposed\nagainst tragedy. In the end, though, there should be hope, and we want stories\nthat are truly fun for as many different kinds of people as possible.\u201d \u201d Also, \u201cSwashbuckling adventure, deadly intrigue,\nand gleeful romance are some of the most obvious examples of what we\u2019re looking\nfor, but we won\u2019t say no to more subtle or complicated topics, as long as they\nfit under the wider \u201cfun\u201d umbrella.\u201d

For inspiration, we suggest \u201cThe\nTwilight Zone\u201d, \u201cThe Outer Limits\u201d,\u201d \u2013 and also the first volume of their\nstories. They do not want work\nabout vampires,\nzombies, werewolves, serial killers, hitmen, excessive gore or sex. They also\naccept reprints. They can accept only 300 submissions a month during their\nreading period.

(for Spider) and Best Friends Forever? and Tales of\nthe Sea (for Cricket). Non-themed submissions are open too. They also accept\nother genres, like non-fiction and poetry, craft, and recipes.

Is\nthere a landmark in your town that you can write a nightmare into? Have you\never legend tripped somewhere and thought, well, that cave, mausoleum, torture\ntree was neat, but I wish there was more to the story?\u201d Also, \u201cIn our fifth\nyear of publishing we\u2019re looking to expand our reach into 21st Century\nfolklore, urban legends, and the space between creepypasta and literary horror.\u201d\nThe submission window may close earlier than expected because they will begin\naccepting work before the deadline.
