This doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that your story has to\nbe silly or lighthearted (though it certainly&nbsp;<em>can<\/em>&nbsp;be). Joy can be made all the more powerful when juxtaposed\nagainst tragedy. For inspiration, we suggest \u201cThe\nTwilight Zone\u201d, \u201cThe Outer Limits\u201d,\u201d \u2013 and also the first volume of their\nstories.&nbsp;They do not want work\nabout vampires,\nzombies, werewolves, serial killers, hitmen, excessive gore or sex. They also\naccept reprints. Their guidelines\nsay, \u201cWrite something dark into a setting you\u2019ve experienced \u2014 it could be a\nplace you\u2019ve lived, or even just somewhere you\u2019ve visited on a vacation. Is\nthere a landmark in your town that you can write a nightmare into?
