Their\nguidelines say, \u201cThe world is in a mess. It\nseems that from a human perspective, we\u2019re pretty well screwed. &#8230; Maybe the\ngeneration that comes after ours will be able to save the planet for human\nhabitation. Who knows? It seems that this generation has pretty well fucked up\neverything that would ensure the long-term survival of humanity. Why is that?\nGreed, political imperatives, narrow-minded thinking, poverty, ignorance. There\nare many reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It remains true that we are experiencing very\nstrange days. There\u2019s a mass extinction happening and it may well include our\nspecies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What do you think? They like stories that treat the concept of passages, transitions, and\nstate of being betwixt and between. They usually do not publish traditionalist\nrealist fiction or hard genre. Their guidelines also say, \u201cWith that said, we\nare certainly open to publishing more traditional literary work or more hard\ngenre (no fan fiction) so long as it\u2019s really, really good.\u201d They will accept\nfee-free submissions until 1 March; tip-jar submissions are accepted year\nround. <br>\nDeadline: 1 March 2020<br>\nLength: Up to 5,000 words<br>\nPay: $0.02\/word, up to $100<br>\nDetails <a href=\"https:\/\/psychopompmag.com\/submit\/\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hypnos Magazine<br>\n<\/strong>This is a\nmagazine of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. They are looking for\noriginal, thought-provoking weird fiction, and they prefer longer, more complex\nwork to flash fiction. Their guidelines also say, \u201cwe do not automatically reject\nsubmissions because of violent, obscene, or otherwise offensive\ncontent.&nbsp;We&nbsp;are not, by any means, seeking such works, but we&nbsp;do\nnot reject submissions simply because some readers might, theoretically, find\nthem upsetting.\u201d&nbsp;<br>\nDeadline: Ongoing; submissions received until 31 March 2020 will be published\nin the Spring issue<br>\nLength: Up to 10,000 words<br>\nPay: $0.01\/word<br>\nDetails <a href=\"http:\/\/radiumtownpress.com\/guidelines.html\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Drabblecast<\/strong><strong> <br>\n<\/strong>This is a weekly\naudio science fiction, fantasy, and horror podcast. Their guidelines say, \u201cOur\nsingular focus is off-beat, funny, eclecticism in science fiction, fantasy, and\nhorror.\u201d They also accept reprints. <br>\nDeadline: Open\nnow<br>\nLength:\nShort fiction of 500-4,000 words; Drabbles of 100 words and Twabbles of 100\ncharacters \u2013 fiction under 500 words is unpaid<br>\nPay:\n$0.06\/word for short fiction, with a cap of $300 (reprints at $0.03\/word, also\ncapped at $300)<br>\nDetails <a href=\"https:\/\/www.drabblecast.org\/submissions\/\">here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dark Moon Digest <br>\n<\/strong>They publish dark fiction \u2013 short stories and flash fiction\nreminiscent of&nbsp;<em>The Twilight Zone<\/em><em>,<\/em><em> Black\nMirror<\/em><em>,<\/em><em> <\/em><em>and <\/em><em>Tales\nfrom the Crypt<\/em>, as well as reviews and columns. They also list the\nkind of stories they\u2019ve seen far too many times. They close submissions when\nthey hit their monthly limit of 300 in that category, and submitters can try\nagain the following month.
