There are finally starting to be more publishers actively seeking writers \u2013 and openly stating payment rates of $1 per word or more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of that change, the media company, and publishing platform Medium, has launched quite a few new websites, many of which pay professional rates to freelance writers for feature articles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, the transition away from print magazines finally gained solid footing. They publish briefs, how-tos, and features.      For seasonal articles there is a four to six month lead time. They pay $1 per word.
