These publishers publish writing on cultural issues, entertainment, news, airline safety, food, feminism, and interviews.<\/p>\n

Root Quarterly is \u201ca print-only, subscription-based quarterly journal rooted in Philadelphia, but not limited to Philadelphia-based content.\u201d They are looking for fiction (500 to 2,000 words), personal essays or articles, cultural criticism and think pieces (500 to 3,500 words), long-form profiles of Philadelphia region artists, recommendations on what they might cover in their \u201crecommendation\u201d and \u201cdestination\u201d sections, and artwork and photography. They give \u201cvery heavy preference to Philadelphia region writers\u201d but are \u201copen in particular when it comes to cultural criticism to a wide array of people.\u201d They need submissions for their spring issue by January 15.   2. Current Affairs is a bimonthly print magazine of culture and politics. The magazine is \u201cinformative, entertaining, and beautiful, and loaded with everything from book reviews to fake advertisements.\u201d Payment reports indicate that they pay up to $0.07 per word. Kali Letter is a biweekly publication that is \u201can unfilt(her)ed lens of news, pop-culture lifestyle and feminism for East African women.\u201d They publish opinions, personal essays, features, Q&As, profiles, and comic strips. Positive News is a website and quarterly print magazine that \u201cpublishes good journalism about good things.\u201d They are \u201cpioneers of \u2018constructive journalism\u2019 \u2013 a new approach in the media, which is about rigorous and relevant journalism that is focused on progress, possibility, and solutions.\u201d They are looking for unique pitches for the next edition of their magazine.
