Their guidelines say, \u201cOur budget allows us to pay for up to 7,000 words per month, which means we are always going to buy more shorter fiction than longer stories.\u201d

\nPulp Horror Phobias Volume 2
\n<\/strong>\u00ad\u00ad\u00ad\u00ad\u00adFor this anthology by Lycan Valley Press, they want pulp\/noir stories about phobias. Their guidelines say, \u201cAnything you might find, or come into contact with, inside or around a house or home. Please note, this is a very broad theme so get creative and come up with something new and unusual. Common phobias such as arachnophobia, claustrophobia and agoraphobia, although relevant to the theme, must bring something new. Likewise, hauntings and possessions must bring more than your average ghost story.<\/p>\n

This can also include stories deliberately set inside a house or in a yard\/farm\/etc near a house if it’s fitting for the story (stitching the theme is fine but simply mentioning there is a house nearby isn’t enough to fit the theme).\u201d They do not want any pizza stories.

\nRoom Magazine

For fiction and non-fiction, there are no length guidelines \u2013 they have published work of less than one page in length to more than 60 pages. They do not charge a fee for mailed submissions.

They will read submissions until they have their target word count for the anthology, which is currently about 70,000 words.

\n<\/strong>The editor of this magazine, Andrew S. Fuller, recently tweeted<\/a> that they were \u201clooking for stories that dream and dance and devour\u201d. They want speculative fiction \u2013 horror, fantasy, and science fiction. Their guidelines say, \u201cWe’re looking for short stories from across the big classifications and those shadowy places between: magical realism, fantastique, slipstream, interstitial, Weird fiction.\u201d They like voices that are \u201cfull of feeling, from literary to pulpy, with styles unique and flowing, but not too experimental.\u201d This is not a market for extreme horror.
