\nCasa \u00c1frica microfiction contest<\/strong>
\n<\/strong>This is an international fiction contest. They say the contest is theme free but stories must have some links to Africa. The maximum length is 1,400 characters (not words), including spaces and excluding the title, or approximately 200 or 250 words. Writers can send up to three pieces of microrrelators, or microfiction. Submissions can be in Spanish, English, French, or Portuguese.

\nUniversity of Southampton: Green Stories Writing Competitions \u2013 radio play drama\/comedy series
\n<\/strong>They have writing contests with deadlines throughout the year, in various formats \u2013 play, film, radio, book, tv, interactive fiction \u2013 that in some way touch upon ideas around building a sustainable society. They will consider all genres \u2013 rom-com, literary fiction, science fiction, mystery, crime etc. \u2013 but stories must engage with the idea of environmentally sustainable practices and\/or sustainable societies. They will consider all stories, but they encourage writers to imagine a more positive settings and practices for their stories, rather than dystopian. In July, they are reading radio plays. Writers can send work in three formats \u2013
\n1. a 45 minute drama: send whole script + 1 page synopsis, or
\n2. 6 x 30 minute comedy series: send sample\/pilot episode + 3 pages outlining remaining episodes (these should be ready as they will ask for them if shortlisted), or
\n3. 5 x 15 minute drama series: send the first two 15 minutes episodes and an outline of the further 3 episodes (these should be ready as they will ask for them if shortlisted).

\nSpeculative Literature Foundation: Diverse Writers and Diverse World Grants
\n<\/strong>There are for writers of speculative fiction, with all levels of experience and publishing. The Diverse Writers grant is intended to support new and emerging writers from underrepresented and underprivileged groups, such as writers of color, women, queer writers, disabled writers, working-class writers, etc. The Diverse Worlds grant is intended for work that best presents a diverse world, regardless of the writer\u2019s background. Writers may apply for either or both grants. Their guidelines also say, \u201cyour project does not need to center on identity issues. We also do not expect or want work that simply attempts to check off all the boxes in a tokenistic way, but rather are looking for writing that offers deep characterization, complex cultural landscapes, and strong literary quality overall.\u201d
