Their guidelines say, \u201cHorror, Science Fiction, and Fantasy are all welcomed, as long as they fit in the realms of\u00a0Weird\u00a0and\u00a0Cosmic. All stories and poems must also be speculative in some way.\u201d\u00a0 All horror must be\u00a0otherworldly or supernatural, SF must be dark and speculative, and fantasy, morally ambiguous\u00a0and grim. They welcome any combination of the above genres. Their guidelines say, \u201cWe\u2019re seeking fantasy stories that invite readers to enter worlds they\u2019ve never seen before. We\u2019re looking for immediate and visceral tales of danger, fun and inventive adventures, and fateful journeys to distant lands or to the dragon\u2019s lair in your own backyard.\u00a0We\u2019re looking for intricate, challenging tales with gorgeous prose, verve, and imagination that elicit strong emotions and challenge beliefs.\u201d They do not require stories to explore issues relating to disability, though those are welcome. They are also looking for essays that explore the relationship between fantastical literature and disability, and will accept pitches or fully written essays. From the classics such as Frankenstein and Dracula, through modern classics like World War Z. They publish stories, puzzles, articles, and activities. Stories should have an engaging plot, strong characterization, a specific setting, and lively language. Stories for beginning readers should not seem babyish to older readers, and stories for independent readers should be appealing to younger readers if read aloud.
