They pay $30 a page for stories, creative nonfiction, and poetry, up to $500 (CAD).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to short stories, they publish poetry, essays, and book reviews.<\/p>\n<p>According to their website:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;At EVENT, we publish both new and established authors, and are keen to uncover new talent. EVENT has published exciting work by authors who have gone on to become <a title=\"Archive\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eventmagazine.ca\/archives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">literary icons<\/a>. Our mission is to stoke the flames of the Canadian literary community while upholding our outstanding literary reputation.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Submissions should be no more than 5,000 words.
