Even if you are not a travel writer, I highly recommend reading their submission guidelines for one specific reason: They offer an example of a good pitch.<\/p>\n
They want pitches to follow a strict format:<\/p>\n
Please submit a title (40 characters max) and a short synopsis (no more than 250 words) explaining the subject of your story, the format, the category<\/a> it fits within, what makes it emotionally compelling, and why you are the right person to tell it. Also include a little bit about yourself and your professional experience.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
It’s easy to miss, but it is very important to make it clear why *you* are the person to tell the story. This gets to the heart of this type of non-fiction writing. A good writer can quickly and convincingly demonstrate why they are uniquely qualified for the job.<\/p>\n
