They want stories that are dark, literary \u2013 creepy, weird or unsettling. There are no sub-genre or theme restrictions. However, they do not accept stories with vampires, zombies, werewolves, serial killers, hitmen, excessive gore or sex, excessive abuse against women, revenge fantasies, cannibals, or high fantasy. The editors want both classic and new interpretation of fairies, and are looking at stories with speculative elements. They are looking for fantasy rather than science fiction. The SF element must be the backbone of the story. They are particularly interested in work that is outside the US\/Anglo-sphere and welcome translations. Second person is a tough sell, as are didactic and preachy stories.
