Topics include fiction about the U.S. West, earth (and space) science, water lore, funny stories, literary fiction, non-fiction and poetry, film scripts, and novel excerpts. 1. Flame Tree Publishing: Alien Invasion Anthology<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do aliens live among us today? What would happen when they invade? Would the invasion be an act of aggression, or of assistance and care, or a reminder of our paltry existence in the universe? Writers can submit more than one story for this Gothic Fantasy anthology, and they accept reprints. Submit by 29 September 2017.

3. Three-Lobed Burning Eye Magazine<\/strong><\/p>\n

The magazine publishes speculative fiction: horror, fantasy and science fiction. They publish the magazine online twice a year (Spring and Fall) and a print anthology twice a year, and are currently open for submissions. They welcome translations. See guidelines for the kind of fiction they prefer.

This is an anthology of water-themed speculative fiction stories that explores water-lore and deities, ancient and new, as well as unimagined tales. Submit stories by 1 November 2017.

They accept stories, poems and essays of literary quality. A tip from their editor: if submitting multiple poems or flash pieces, present your best first.

They want fiction and non-fiction for middle grade\/young adult readers that incorporates Earth Science concepts as key, rather than incidental, elements. See guidelines for the kind of stories they publish, and the seed topic for non-fiction. Submit by 15 October 2017.
