As part of my weekly effort to find paid publishing opportunities for writers, here’s a list of nine magazines that pay up to $200 per article, and sometimes much more.<\/p>\n

The list is in no particular order.<\/p>\n

  1. Chatelaine<\/strong> is Canada’s biggest women’s magazine. They’re a general interest magazine, covering health, current events, food, social issues, d\u00e9cor, fashion, and beauty. They pay $1 a word. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Power For Living<\/strong> is a weekly take-home publication for Christian adults. They accept feature article submissions on a variety of topics, but they must be inspiring stories that \u201cshow the power of Christ at work.\u201d They pay up up to $375 per article.   3. Virginia Wildlife Magazine<\/strong> is published bi-monthly by the Department of Game and Fisheries. It’s been published for over 70 years. fish recipes, hiking, camping, outdoors safety and ethics,natural history, and environmental stewardship\/education. They pay up to $500 per article.   4. The American Scholar<\/strong> covers public affairs, literature, history, and culture. They have been around since 1932. They are published quarterly by the Phi Beta Kappa Society. They pay up to $500 for print articles. To learn more, read their submission guidelines<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  5. Cat Fancy<\/strong> is the magazine dedicated to “the love of cats.” They have a very large readership, being the pre-eminent magazine for cat lovers. To learn more, read their submission guidelines<\/a>.<\/li>\n
  6. The War Cry<\/strong> is the magazine published by the Salvation Army. They\u2019ve been around a whopping 135 years. They accept submissions from freelance writers.   8. Metro Parent<\/strong> is a regional parenting magazine covering Southwest Michigan. According to their website, their \u201cgeneral goal is to have a good mix of fun and substantive local stories of interest to local parents.\u201d They have a verified circulation of 60,000 and a readership of 225,000.   9. Sky & Telescope<\/strong> is the leading magazine for the hobby and science of astronomy. They have a circulation of more than 100,000 subscribers.
