McSweeney’s just launched it’s 7th annual column contest. Titled “McSweeney\u2019s Internet Tendency\u2019s 2015 Column Contest,” the contest is open to writers worldwide.<\/p>\n
The prize? $500, plus the chance to write a column for McSweeney’s twice a month. They plan to award this to the top five selections.<\/p>\n
They are open to writers from around the world, and will even publish your writing anonymously, if it suits the topic.<\/p>\n
The deadline for submission is September 18th, 2015. Winners will be announced one week later.<\/p>\n
According to their website:<\/p>\n
“We are looking for material that is engaging and interesting, in a \u201cwe know it when we see it\u201d way. It would probably be a mistake to look at our current columns and try to replicate them. We love those columns, but they came about by authors simply following their own paths. Engage the subject matter you\u2019re interested in, in the way you find most compelling. Our site is primarily known for printing funny things, but columns need not be comic in nature. They don\u2019t even need to be writing, as we have begun to feature more graphic-based material.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
