The Cincinnati Review
<\/strong>They usually accept work for their print magazine from all writers thrice yearly (opens at the beginning of May, September, and December, closes when filled), and accept submissions for their miCRo category for most of the year on an ongoing basis (see guidelines). Currently, they\u2019re accepting works for the print journal (fiction, fiction translations, poetry, poetry translations, literary nonfiction, queries for drama) from writers of color only; shorter miCRo submissions, which are published online, are open for all writers. \u201cOur Submission Manager is open for print-journal submissions from writers of color through March 8th, but is otherwise closed for print-journal subs until May 1st. Our online miCRo category remains open (please review miCRo guidelines before submitting).\u201d

Weird Horror Magazine
<\/strong>This is a horror\/weird fiction magazine. \u201cWe are a home for the strange, the macabre, the eerie, the esoteric, the fabulist, and the gothic. The darkly numinous. The odd.  We are not interested in extreme horror. Do not send science fiction or fantasy.\u201d Query for stories longer than 5,000 words. Their next reading period is in September.

<\/strong>This Australian literary magazine publishes fiction, non-fiction, reviews, and poetry. They also accept art. The deadline for all creative work is mid-March; scholarly articles are accepted year-round. Please note, \u201cwe will offer any authors selected for publication who are not subscribers the option to take out a discounted year\u2019s subscription as part-payment for their work.\u201d

Ghoulish Tales
<\/strong>They\u2019re now reading fiction and non-fiction submissions for their third issue. For fiction, \u201cWhat we are after: short stories that fit our personal definition of the word GHOULISH, which is \u201cfun horror that aims to celebrate all things spooky.\u201d Note that we said fun, not funny. Comedic stories are definitely allowed, but it\u2019s not all we\u2019re looking to receive. We want stories that remind us why we love the horror genre.\u201d

Midnight Street Press: Road Less Travelled Magazine
<\/strong>This is a new magazine from Midnight Street Press. They are open for fiction, non-fiction, interviews; they also publish art. The editor wants \u201cstories that have a mix of two or more of these genres:\u00a0 horror, dark fantasy, sci-fi and slipstream, that explore original themes or traditional themes from an original perspective.\u201d There will also be two or three deep horror stories \u2013 \u201cWhat I\u2019m looking for is any or all of these: fantastic, supernatural, psychological, very creepy and frightening.\u201d

Split Lip Magazine
<\/strong>They accept fiction, memoir, poetry, and art. For fiction, they say, \u201cWe favor interesting, literary narratives with a modern, pop culture appeal. Chestnut Review<\/strong>
This is a print and online magazine. \u201cWe are drawn to beautiful language, resonant images, and we crave narrative.\u201d They have fee-free submissions of flash (up to 1,000 words), poetry, and art. Also, \u201cIf you have work that doesn\u2019t fit neatly into the below categories, that doesn\u2019t mean we won\u2019t want to see it. Choose the most appropriate and include a note\u2014we\u2019ll figure it out.\u201d They read throughout the year, with cut-off dates for issues. General submissions of short prose, and of more than 3 poems, have a fee attached. They accept short prose submissions for Black and Indigenous authors (1,000-5,000 words) without a submission fee.
