The Shame List, Part 1: Pulp Literature

I was recently looking for more publishers to promote to our audience, when I came across Pulp Literature. We’ve previously written about them. They publish short stories. They seem pretty cool.

But they just pissed me off, big time.

Why?

They charge a reading fee to potential authors. The fee is $10 CAD.

That’s right. They charge $10, just to give you a chance to be published.

Their tag line is “Good books for the price of a beer.” Turns out the reading fee is more than the price of a beer.

It costs less to buy a copy of their magazine than it does to send them your work.

Shameful?

Absolutely.

Here’s the first official publisher to be added to the SHAME LIST:

Pulp Literature
