6 Magazines that Pay Writers $200 Per Article

The following is a list of magazines that pay writer $200 per article for at least some of the articles they publish. As with all magazines, pay rates are not set in stone, and may still need to be negotiated with the magazine.

This list is in no particular order.

1. ParentLife is a Christian magazine that is both in print and online. They publish articles for parents, with guidance “from pregnancy through the preteen years.” They cover health, development, education, discipline, and spiritual growth. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.

2. Farm and Ranch Living is all about farmers and ranchers “sharing their memories and experiences.” They are owned by Readers Digest. They pay up to $250 per article. To learn more, read their submission guidelines

3. WCT Magazine is a bimonthly magazine for wildlife and pest control personnel. They publish technical, business, and biological articles for private enterprises as well as government officials. They pay up to $200 per article. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.

4. Teaching Tolerance is a quarterly magazine that targets a national audience of preK-12 educators interested in diversity, multiculturalism, anti-bias and social justice topics. They pay up to $1 a word. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.

5.Professional Boatbuilder is a magazine covering the materials, methods, and design of boats. They aim to “supply accurate, objective articles that will help boatbuilders improve the efficiency or quality of their work. They pay 30 cents per word. Feature articles are up to 6,000 words, which works out to a maximum payment of $1,800, plus pay for photos/diagrams/illustration. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.

6. The American Gardener is the official publication of the American Horticultural Society. It is primarily freelance written. They pay $300 to $600 for feature articles. To learn more, read their submission guidelines.
