Allrecipes is a community-driven food brand. Their editorial director is currently seeking pitches about condiments: “Give me your strong opinions, personal essays, grocery stories, taste test ideas, weird tips, surprising histories, and interviews.” If condiments aren’t your thing, she is also seeking “pitches around smart ways to use your freezer for dinner, microwave cooking, and stories and ideas around summer potlucks.” Rates start at $250. bioGraphic is a multimedia magazine that features stories about nature and sustainability. They are accepting pitches for “coral reef solutions-y stories that would make a good magazine story.” Their rates start at $1 per word. Their rates for photos are $100 per photo. FOYER is an independent magazine that explores “untold stories from people of mixed, third culture and second-generation cultural heritage.” They are accepting pitches from emerging writers and creatives on the theme of “connect,” in relation to cultural heritage, second generation, and third culture. Anime Herald is a website that offers news, reviews, interviews, and commentary on anime and anime fandom. They are always seeking articles, particularly those that examine the medium’s history. Tech Transfer Central is “the one-stop source for information, news, products, and services for technology transfer and intellectual property professionals.” They are seeking writers/reporters who can “handle assignments that address the information needs of professionals in the fields of university-industry engagement, academic/corporate partnering and tech transfer.” Rate is based on the number of pages published. Most of their articles are 2 to 3 pages long and pay $200 to $250 per page. BRICKS is a London-based print publication and online platform that explores “social-political issues within fashion, music, arts and culture.” Their politics editor is open to pitches (for opinions, essays, interviews, etc.) for Pride Month. Go Fund Bean is a non-profit organization that supports, uplifts, and defends the hourly coffee worker. They are accepting pitches for their monthly Calibration Notes newsletter. They are looking for stories that are under-represented in the coffee industry. Right now, they are “particularly interested in anything around being queer in coffee, the coffee supply chain, or labor collectives/organizations in coffee farming regions,” but will accept other stories too. Remezcla is an independent media brand that covers emerging Latin music, entertainment, and culture. They are accepting pitches for pride month. Prism is a BIPOC-led news outlet that covers voting rights, electoral justice, criminal justice, racial justice, workers’ rights, immigration, the environment, gender and LGBTQIA+ issues, and more. They are working on a series focused on “LGBTQIA+ Black, Indigenous, and people of color.” They are seeking 2 reporters/writers for 2 separate features:

“The first feature explores the joy of gender affirmations and gender euphoria and families supporting their children/family members’ gender (transition/affirmation).”

“In the 2nd feature we would like to explore how mutual aid funds and Black trans-led community resources helped address what policy hasn’t and how by centering radical politics, they provide the safety and comfort most necessary.”

The New Inquiry is an online magazine and website of cultural and literary criticism. They are accepting pitches for essays of 1,500 to 3,000 words for their next issue, TRAD. The i Paper is a British national newspaper. Their deputy culture editor is looking for culture pitches especially “on-the-button features with a unique angle, deep dives, first-person takes on current TV/films, op-eds.” They pay 25p per word. Input is a publication that covers science, innovation, entertainment, gaming, and the mind and body. Their features editor is accepting stories involving the supernatural and tech. gal-dem is a British online and print magazine that is dedicated to sharing the stories of women and non-binary people of color. Times Union: Hudson Valley covers the news, outdoors, travel, culture, food, entertainment, and real estate in the Hudson Valley and Catskills. Their managing editor is looking for pitches: “I’m interested in housing, human interest, politics, and climate, but most any story between Cold Spring and Hudson is conceivably a fit.” He also has a few stories to assign. They are seeking stories based on the idea of “Boosting Community Immunity.” “Stories would address barriers to community-wide immunity by spotlighting experts committed to the cause and supporting stories with health research.” They are looking to commission 2 pieces. Metro.co.uk covers news, lifestyle, health, food, sex, entertainment, sports, and more. Their lifestyle and weekend editor is accepting pitches for Better Living, their series about being your best self. Payment reports indicate that they pay about £100 per 800 words. They are “looking for writers who can do on the ground reporting + really dig into a reported feature.” Their rates start at £100 for 800 to 1,000 words, £120 for multi-interviews of 1,200 words and £150 for longer reads. The Monitor is a bimonthly policy and current affairs magazine by CCPA (Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives). They are accepting pitches for their September/October issue which will explore how real estate investment trusts (REITs) have reshaped the rental market of Canada. They are seeking features, investigative journalism, illustrations, and book reviews rooted in an intersectional analysis (750 to 1,500 words). They pay $300 for 750 words and $500 for 1,450 words. Dissent is a website and quarterly print magazine that publishes political and cultural criticism. They are launching a new program to publish emerging writers. They want pitches for reported features, essays, cultural criticism as well as book reviews. They don’t want fiction. Rate is $0.50 per word for up to 2,000 words plus an additional stipend for expenses. They will give preference to writers under the age of 30.
